Awake my soul and sing.
How does my soul sing?
“The Lord God has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary.
He awakens Me morning by morning,He awakens My ear
To hear as the learned.
5 The Lord God has opened My ear; and I was not rebellious, nor did I turn away. Isaiah 50:3-5
There is a song, that says awake my soul and sing, sing His praise aloud. I am inclined to worship in spirit and in truth when I hear it. I am drawn as they say, in the Spirit to be alert and listen, to speak heart to heart and to be right there with Him.
I think that to sing in the Spirit, it means the depth of our heart and mind all focused on the joy of just being there and we become overwhelmed with His goodness. We often tear up, we sometimes sob; we always receive great joy unspeakable.
In those early hours when I awake, if I recall the reason He awakens me I can find joy as I crawl out of bed. I am awakened to listen to His voice, to read His Word, to sing praises to my God who has a desire to hear even my scratchy squeaky voice in praise. The thing is we need to do as Isaiah, do not turn away from it or roll over and go back to sleep but get up, rise up, awake and sing today!
Begin praying and thanking Him for awakening you and ask Him why? For some it will be to pray in intercession, to some it will be to get a spark in our step to start the day with a smile, no matter how early it is! Enjoy your time with Him.
