A Reason to Pray - In His Word 1-11-2022

Day 2

A Reason to Pray -Count your blessings

God has blessed us with so many things that we cannot begin to thank Him for. One reason we need to pray daily is that we will remember these things. Especially on the days that we are not so full of problems to share with the Lord, we need to remember the good things He has done. On the days that things are going good in your life, pray to thank Him as you count the many blessings He has given you. They are innumerable when you think about it all. He has given you so many things to make your day easier, to cause you to love Him more.

Today sit up and bow your head, say ‘Good Morning Lord’, and begin to thank God for everything you can think of. Thank God for a floor to put your feet on, the sun that is shining in the window, the rain falling on the ground, even the noise you heard that woke you up in the first place. Fill your time with Him with thanks.

Write them on the note page provided if you wish. It does not have to be perfect, spelling does not count, just make a one word list if that is what you have time for, only be sure and write, or think of, at least three things that you are grateful to God for down.

Next read David’s prayer below and make note of what became your personal prayer.

  Psalm 30

A psalm of David. A song for the dedication of the Temple.

1 I will exalt you, Lord, for you rescued me.
You refused to let my enemies triumph over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
      and you restored my health.
3 You brought me up from the grave,[
a] O Lord.
You kept me from falling into the pit of death.

4 Sing to the Lord, all you godly ones!
      Praise his holy name.
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night,
but joy comes with the morning.

 6 When I was prosperous, I said,
      “Nothing can stop me now!”
7 Your favor, O Lord, made me as secure as a mountain.
Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered.

8 I cried out to you, O Lord.
I begged the Lord for mercy, saying,
9 “What will you gain if I die,
if I sink into the grave?
   Can my dust praise you?
Can it tell of your faithfulness?
10 Hear me, Lord, and have mercy on me.
      Help me, O Lord.”

11 You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing.
You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,
12 that I might sing praises to you and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever! Psalm 30 1-12

Once you have thanked Him for your many blessings go on with your day thinking about things as you go.
