Truth Be Told- Advent In His Word 12-6-21

1 Timothy 1 4-11 talks about not listening to fables, or waste time listening to false truths that they claim are truth but are actually contrary to the truth. We know that the truth, or rather the Truth, is Jesus. We know that the Word of God, or the Law, and the Prophets, brought the truth to the people before Christ and it still stands as the truth today. We also know that people would change things up and believe in such things as mystical beings that would bring magical imaginings to life. The thing is we need to know the difference between the truth and the false stories. The Ephesians did not all get that. Do you?

The truth says that we need to focus on gathering together as one body of believers not spread out to our different beliefs but believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” John 14:5-7

When I left for Macedonia, I urged you to stay there in Ephesus and stop those whose teaching is contrary to the truth.  Don’t let them waste their time in endless discussion of myths and spiritual pedigrees. These things only lead to meaningless speculations, which don’t help people live a life of faith in God. The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.  But some people have missed this whole point. They have turned away from these things and spend their time in meaningless discussions. They want to be known as teachers of the law of Moses, but they don’t know what they are talking about, even though they speak so confidently. 1 Timothy 4-7

We need to be sure that we are first connected to God Himself, through Jesus the Christ we are able to do this. Then we can study to show ourselves approved rightly dividing the Word in Truth.

Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

For if we do not now the Truth we cannot follow it. If we do not know the Truth we cannot live it. If we do not know the Truth we cannot teach others how to live in righteousness here in this world. We need to know Jesus in order to be filled with His love that comes from the pure, clean heart that He gives us as we respond to the Holy Spirit leading us to said Truth.  When we read the Word of God, our Bible, then we can know the truth that can set us free!  By being set free we no longer need to cling to the things of this world to make us happy and contented, but we can focus our thoughts on how to please Him and be pleased by Him in the process. Think on that one a few minutes. Our idea of living life to be pleased with how we live it is a bit off base. We are here to please God, look back in Genesis. He saw that it was good. Thus, God was pleased with His creations. We are His creation, at least part of it. He was pleased with us in the beginning, us being mankind. If everyone lived to please God instead of self then there really would be peace on earth and goodwill toward men as the angels sang to the shepherds.

We know that the law is good when used correctly. For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. It is for people who are lawless and rebellious, who are ungodly and sinful, who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy, who kill their father or mother or commit other murders.  The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching  that comes from the glorious Good News entrusted to me by our blessed God.  I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him,  even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief. Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus.

This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.  All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen. 1 Timothy 8-17

It is all about pleasing God, and in this He does please us but first we must seek Him and return to that communication from the beginning. He walked with Adam in the Garden. So much has happened to and through man kind and other parts of History has created such a selfishness in man to want to just please themselves. Or has it been there since Eve accepted the serpent’s suggestion to eat of the Tree they were told not to? Ah but that brings a whole other lesson to study doesn’t it!

For today let’s just work on trying to be less selfish and more like Jesus, more like Paul too! He knew He was a sinner, that he had done many Christians harm, and he knew he had been forgiven and given the task to lead others to safety. That’s the same for us today my friend, we are given that task to lead others to the Truth. Jesus is the way the truth and the life! No one can get to the Father but by Him  John 14:5-7 tells us this.

So, what does this give us for this week? What do we do today?

-Seek God and spend time with Him ‘in the garden’ speaking and listening, waiting, and reading.

- Sing worship songs, praise songs, and Spiritual songs making melody in our hearts to the Lord.

- Live a life pleasing to God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who will help you do so if you are doing the things above here.

Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men Romans 12:16-17

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.  For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3

As you go off to your week in the season you are in think on these things. In Jesus’ name.
