Jesus and stuff...
- In His Word 11-19-21
As we prepare for the
month ahead, I am setting a precedent of decorating in tasteful simplicity this
year. There have been years when I went crazy with 7 trees and probably 70
lights on other years but this year, I just want to focus on the Jesus things
around Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, my Christmas times past have always been
Christ Centered since I was aware of it being a Reason for the Season.
During the recent years we have had to wonder if we were
even going to gather as a group of friends and family because of restrictions
put upon us. During all of this we have to remember that it is foremost for us
to seek God and ask Him what to do for our celebration of His Birth. Its not just about the gifts and the parties
but it is about taking a moment or two and thinking on the things we know about
Jesus. We know about the birth and the
miracle that came before Him, but what do we know about Jesus that we can put
on ourselves as we walk in this coming month, in His presence?
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other.
Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the
world that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers,
and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead,
use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one
command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:13-14
Think about how we can be good to one another so that Jesus
will say “well done my good and faithful servant.” Luke 16 tells us we ill be
called to give an account when we stand before Jesus. Will we be accounted as
one who looked for those who need the love of God, or will we be considered the
one who judges those who do not live up to our expectations?
Think on that one for a bit because Jesus encourages us
again and again to love one another as He loves us. His Word is full of His
love and how to share it.
Love one another.
Help the widows,
Feed the hungry,
Save the children,
Share food, faith, forgiveness,
Be faithful to serve them,
Then trust Him to help.
These are the things that we and to be like Jesus, to do His will and celebrate His birth with peace and goodwill.
Have a great day, and ponder these thoughts cause only you
know if He taught you or not.
Be blessed, In Jesus’
name
