Be Set Apart~ In His Word 8-24-2020

Be set apart In His Word-8-24-2020

God wants us to be set apart from the world we live in. He does not want us to be like everyone else but instead to be strong in His power and His might while following Him. This means we do not need to be rich, we do not have to have the fastest car, or the shiny new anything. We need to do what God puts before us to do. If that means we walk through a desert or sleep in a tent in the middle of a jungle to get the Word of God out to the people, then that is what we need to do.

The thing is rich people need God too! They just have a bigger pile of stuff to get rid of.

And he said, all these have I kept from my youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.  And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. Luke18-21-23

Even so if we walk with God, do as He tells us we will be His people.

The temple of God cannot have any agreement with idols, and we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live with them and walk with them. And I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

“Leave those people, and be separate, says the Lord .Touch nothing that is unclean,    and I will accept you.” (Isaiah 52:11; Ezekiel 20:34, 41)  “I will be your father, and you will be my sons and daughters,  says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6 16-18

Jesus wanted us to be close with Himself. He did not want to leave the people on the earth behind, because so many were doing what He was telling them to do. He prayed to the father to help us to know Him, and to be one with Him just as Jesus is. He gave us a part of Himself in the Holy Spirit that we would always have a lifeline to call in any moment for any reason to get help.

After Jesus said these things, he looked toward heaven and prayed, “Father, the time has come. Give glory to your Son so that the Son can give glory to you. You gave the Son power over all people so that the Son could give eternal life to all those you gave him. 3 And this is eternal life: that people know you, the only true God, and that they know Jesus Christ, the One you sent. Having finished the work you gave me to do, I brought you glory on earth.  And now, Father, give me glory with you; give me the glory I had with you before the world was made.

“I showed what you are like to those you gave me from the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have obeyed your teaching. Now they know that everything you gave me comes from you. I gave them the teachings you gave me, and they accepted them. They knew that I truly came from you, and they believed that you sent me. I am praying for them. I am not praying for people in the world but for those you gave me, because they are yours.  All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And my glory is shown through them.

I am coming to you; I will not stay in the world any longer. But they are still in the world. Holy Father, keep them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they will be one, just as you and I are one.  While I was with them, I kept them safe by the power of your name, the name you gave me. I protected them, and only one of them, the one worthy of destruction, was lost so that the Scripture would come true. “I am coming to you now. But I pray these things while I am still in the world so that these followers can have all of my joy in them.  I have given them your teaching. And the world has hated them, because they don’t belong to the world, just as I don’t belong to them. John 17:1-13

He gave us the Word of God to study and become approved by God, to know Him as He is, and to know Him more! He has directed our paths since we were born and we just go on about life, do you not think we should be giving Him glory? Do you give Him thanks for each new day?

I wrote a book prompted by God speaking through a three-year-old one year; Good Morning God.  Good Morning God is a study book about prayer and getting started on a daily and consistent prayer life that will keep you on a path with God for a long time I hope! The idea was to teach what God taught me, to be as bold as a lion and as basic as a child. Even as a three-year-old she stepped up and stood out for Jesus. That is what He prayed for! To keep us from the evil one, and the best way to do that is to stay in prayer, and study, in His Word.

What are you waiting for? Stop following the crowds of people getting bent out of shape because things are not going their way, and start walking where God wants you to be! Follow His lead!

Heavenly Father, I lift up these who read the Word each day, and those who long to know you more, I include myself in this, that You would draw us nearer by your Holy Spirit to dig in to the Word which You have given us to learn about You and how to be guided in this lifetime we live. Direct our paths today, in Jesus’ name, amen.
