Fight with Love! In His Word 2-10-20

In His Word 2-10-20

So, this morning when I awoke, I had the song in my head “This is how I fight my battles...” running through and through. I figure it had something to do with being awakened in the night and feeling the need to pray for someone.  I fell asleep and woke up to “Rest in peace!” and I felt like what? No way! No one is going to die on my watch! I began praying again, but then I realized that the Holy Spirit had done the battle and I was the one to rest, peacefully! I fought my battle in prayer, and my prayers were the weapon. I will await the answer to my prayers but I know my God is in control.

How do you fight your battles? Do you yell, do you sit back and let the enemy trample you? Or do you step out in faith and speak the truth in love that brings your enemy to his knees?
When we take the time and pray for one another, even if it is a struggle to stay awake or calm, we can fight our battles on our knees, in the Spirit, and in His love.
Love, God’s love, is the best!
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
If we do not have love then we do not have anything, and since God is love; if we have Him, we have everything! As you read the next few scriptures, put the word ‘His’ in front of the word ‘love’.  This will give you a bit of insight into who God really is; try it!
(His)Love is patient and kind. (His) Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. (His) Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Corinthians 13:1-7
His love never gives up. He will never give up on us because He loves us.
So when I asked you how you fight your battles, do you fight them physically or spiritually? Do you fight with God on your side? Do you talk it out or walk it out?
If you talk it out, it is a human level of battle because we try to convince the people we are battling with that they should listen to us. But if you walk it out, then you are living the life of a Bible Believing Christian! You are walking knowing He is in control and that He loves you enough to do the things He has promised. His provision, His guidance and His love are all there if we trust Him. Sometimes its the Proverbs 3:5-6 kind where we allow Him to direct our paths and love Him enough to allow Him to take on our battles because something can look so wrong, so imperfect to us but God sees the end product. Its that puzzle box lid mentality; God’s got the lid, we have to put the pieces together. We must look to Him to find out what it looks like and where the next peace can go. The puzzle is our lives and we must live it as we go. Unfortunately God never promised our sky would always be blue, just that it would be there!

Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless. When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things. Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:8-13
Heavenly Father, help us to walk in these three trusting that You will bring people into our lives to love and to trust, that you will bring us the people to help us fight our battles with you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
