In His Word 1-20-2020
How many of us can quote the Armor of God
scriptures?
…above all, taking the shield of
faith with which, you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked
one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the
Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance
and supplication for all the saints— Ephesians 6:16-18
We know what to do with the helmet, but
do we know that it helps us to train our brain or protect us and ward off the
random thoughts that draw us away from the presence of the Lord. It is a
representation of our Salvation. It is on our head because it is with your mind,
we decide to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
We have the shield of faith that is there
to protect the rest of us from the wiles of the enemy, the devil, the adversary
or the wicked one, as he is called. I have been known to say, “satan and his
cronies”
And then we have our selves set up for
battle! We are ready, because we pick up the sword of the Spirit who helps us
to both pray in the Spirit and learn through the Word of God, our Bibles. But
it is called a sword for a reason. Think
about what the Word of God is used for, not just for us to study and say we
know our memory verses, but so much more!
Pick up your Bible right now…
“Swords at the ready! Thrust right! Set
your blade!
Thrust left—Wherever your edge is ordered! “I also will beat My fists together, and I will cause My fury to rest; I, the Lord, have spoken.”
Thrust left—Wherever your edge is ordered! “I also will beat My fists together, and I will cause My fury to rest; I, the Lord, have spoken.”
Ezekiel 21:16-17
If you imagine the Word of
God, that power full two edged sword right now with the above scriptures you
may see that when we pick it are at the ready.
When we open it up and see
the answer to a prayer need, or direction as we study it; thrust right!
Thrust right.
Then we set our blade… read
the Word, find the needed verses to add the power to our prayer and hit the
right spot to bring the victory. When we are ready and studied up, we thrust
left!
Thrust left.
Wherever we are ordered to go
with the Word, by the Lord.
Then he will come with the
power and the ‘fists beat together’ by the Holy Spirit will bring the peace, in
the direction God has sent us He will bring the victory.
Then he will give us rest.
But we must be prepared. We must
be ready.
They are all skilled swordsmen, experienced warriors. Each
wears a sword on his thigh, ready to defend the king against an attack in the
night. Song of Solomon 3:8
Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare war, stir up the warriors. Let all the soldiers draw near, let them
come up. Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears; let
the weakling say, “I am a warrior.”
Come quickly, all you nations all around, gather yourselves there. Bring down your warriors, O Lord. Joel 3:9-11
The sword of the Spirit is the Word of
God, it is the Word with us, not just in the Bible but the fact that when we
accepted Christ and He gave us the ‘Comforter’ or the Holy Spirit when we first
believed. That is when we were given the Sword of the spirit, but the way it is
written about we have to keep it sharp! We have to stay in the Word daily in
order to be ready. That is when we are weak, yet we are strong! We can be
strong in His power and His might when we dig into the Word daily. Then even
when we don’t think we are doing anything special for God or the universe, we
can know that we are warriors for Jesus! All we have to do is read, live and
tell someone what happened!
Let’s get our sword handy, put it on our hip
in a messenger bag, or in a backpack, or even in a pocket with some Bibles out
there. Be ready, instant in season and out of season to go into battle in
prayer and the Word, in Jesus name!
