In His Word 1-6-2020
Today I am thinking of past celebrations with my now adults when
they were kids. We had a lot of fun planning time with them to make memories and
celebrate them. Sort of like how we celebrated Jesus at Christmas; we went all
out! But cost was always a problem, so I had to be creative! We played mystery
games, created scavenger hunts and amazing races with clues to follow… but the favorite
memory comes from the Pirate ship cake I made, using Lego pirates and turned
our back yard into an obstacle course of adventure! We had them walking the
plank over mud made from pudding just like in the movies! They had to follow a treasure map to find the
treasure. I sometimes made these too hard for the age level, so I had to have a
back up plan. In real life, not kids’
parties we have to have a back up plan as well! It can get scarey with a bunch
of kids trying to find the prize location in a treasure hunt but once they find
it it's all good!
In the same way we can know that the treasure we look for is found
in Jesus Christ! We can know that He
will keep us going to the prize if we keep our eyes on Him. When life gets rocky,
just keep focusing on the Word and our Faith in God to provide. Then when it
seems like He is never going to, keep trusting Him. Do not give up do not give
in! He's got this! Just when you think
there is no place to go with your kids, there you go! Just when you think you
have exhausted your resources, God will provide!Things may not work out all the time, but when we keep our eyes on the prize we an make it through anything!
At the
moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you
sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is
acceptable and pleasing to God. And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your
needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen. Philippians 4:18-20
“So, don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great
happiness to give you the Kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to those in
need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven
never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal
it and no moth can destroy it. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of
your heart will also be. “Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning,
