Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your
hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in
God. Colossians 3:1-3
He
said to them, “But
who do you say that I am?”
Peter answered and
said, “The Christ of God.” Luke 9:20
As you prepare to celebrate the new decade
what do you do? Do you party? Do you make goals and plans and resolutions?
Why do you do these things? Can you
change anything without God’s direction in your life? The reality is that we
can plan our own way, set goals and resolve to do things but unless we do the
will of the father it will not come out the way we plan.
A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
Where are your feet taking you this year? Will it
be according to the things above? Will you say, “Here I am Lord send me?” Or
will you be self-absorbed in getting the worlds view of happiness? After all
what really matters?
To me what matters is what God has put before us,
if we follow the path and achieve something great, we praise God that it happened,
but if we choose not to put God first and fail, that’s on us! The thing is only
two people know if we are putting God first… us and Him.
Think on this for a while and then pray for your
new year… what will you do with the Lord? What will He do with you?
Set your heart and mind on things above today.
Heavenly Father, help us to follow Your lead in
all that we do in the next decade of life you have given us. Thank you for all You
have done and will do, in Jesus’ name amen.
