(Almost) Dailies - November 27-28

Dailies ~ In His Word
November 2019
Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was.  We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. Romans 6:5-7
Did you ever stop and think about this verse? Really think about it? We decided to believe in Christ, when we made the choice to accept him as our Lord and Savior, we asked forgiveness of our sins; or most of us did. We also learn to ask Him to forgive our “trespasses, “ in what we have come to call the Lord’s prayer. The prayer will be found at the end of this day’s Word, but going back to the verses above; our old sinful selves were in a spiritual sense crucified with Christ, this means that we rendered inoperative the power it had over us; the sin we lived in is gone.  By this the old way in which we lived has been rendered inoperative. Now it is our place to exchange it for a new way of living. But sometimes others will try to put us back in that spot of sorrow, or damaged good though life. That’s when we need to battle with the truth!
So, we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.  2 Corinthians 5:16-18
The truth is that the sin in our lives has been rendered inoperative; it is gone. It is just as if it never happened! So, when we go back to the cesspool of our old lives in our minds even it is our old self, not who we are today. Though we will sometimes be tempted of the devil, the enemy or whoever you call that person who tries to pull you back own. Christ as redeemed us. The enemy will not be able to put us back in sin, if we all upon the name of the Lord we will be saved.
So, what do you do? When that sin that you somehow used to enjoy and suddenly its no longer a thrill even when you thought it would be again? What do you do if you slip up and ‘fall back into sin’?  Will God even look at you? Will He forgive you? Yes!  Just repent, and ask Him to help. Bam its done! He will again wipe your white board clean and using His magic eraser it will be clean gone!  He will never mention it again to you, so if you think of it, it is not of God. Ignore it!
People are fallible, but God is infallible. When He removes something from your life, He has a plan in it. There is a reason for us to go through temptations and come out the other side; otherwise Jesus would not have done so in the Gospels. There is no temptation that is not common to man.  Everyone gets tempted at some time whether it is by chocolate cake or drugs or alcohol, or greed, or lust. Whatever it is, God is for you so nothing can stand against you.
This week in America there are many celebrations, some serious temptations are put there before us as we gather with family members and friends who may not know Christ yet, may not know the new us; trust God and lean on Him to get you through. He will not leave you alone.  Give thanks to God that He is with us always, wherever we are to go whatever we do He is there. Just remember that and it can help you get through gatherings.
Even when you are alone at home all by yourself; God is there. You can run but you can’t hide from Him, so don’t try, give up and give in to His help, His love and His forgiveness. He knows your heart, and He understands way more than you think He will today. Do not let shame or fear stand in the way of your Father God’s arms.
Like a child who ate the chocolate bar the evidence is there. He wants to wash your face again and give you a hug of forgiveness. Why would He do that? He loves you; He loves you so much that He will do it again and again. How many times?  As many as you need, His love never ends.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your forgiveness from even the thoughts we have as we are tempted to go to our old ways. Give us strength today, give us hope today, help us through the season before us as we walk through it knowing You are by our side holding our hand because You love us,  In Jesus’ name, amen
