Dailies ~ In His Word
October 2019
Chosen
Take what
is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. Is it not
lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?’ “So, the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few
chosen.” Mathew 20:14-16
To do His will.
We are chosen to do
the will of the Lord in our lives, you and me both. Long ago, I was called to speak and to preach
and to teach to all people from all nations and all walks of life, including
all ages. It’s pretty broad but more
recent years God has shown me the calling to write being a means to grasp or
grab ahold of; that original directive.
In all of this we
are also called to love one another just as Christ loves us. This means we love
one another with compassion and forgiveness in the forefront. I know, sometimes
that seems difficult because we either feel like other people will not accept
our love for them or we do not know how to love others because we do not feel
loved ourselves.
Something I learned
from watching Jesus in the Word; love them with all you’ve got and it will be
enough. One day while sharing wisdom with a whole pile of people, Jesus had
compassion on them or sitting there listening all day and not having eaten. He
fed them with a few fish and some bread because it’s what they had to share. Now
the Father increased that bread once Jesus lifted it up to Him and the people
were physically fed fish and bread to the full! We can do this with love, we
can lift up our small amount of understanding, compassion, encouragement, or
even a few fish; to God for the increase.
But
Jesus, being aware of it, said
to them, “Why
do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet
perceive nor understand? Is your heart still
hardened? Having eyes, do you
not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember? When I broke the
five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments did you
take up?”
They said to Him, “Twelve.”
“Also, when I broke the
seven for the four thousand, how many large baskets full of fragments did you
take up?”
And they said, “Seven.”
So,
He said to them, “How is it you do not
understand?”
Mark 8: 17-21
The fish in that
story are not just meant for us to see that it’s okay to eat bread and fish,
but that we are to take the little and make it a mighty amount with the
guidance and love of God. What seems impossible for you to do God can multiply
the ability, the food, the finances, the love and even the energy to get it
done!
The thing is that
just as Jesus and the disciples were chosen and called to do the will of the
Father, in feeding the sheep, the people, the many and the more… so are we
called and chosen to do His good works to bring others into the kingdom of God.
Think on these things today, consider what small thing you can do that God can
multiply to the multitudes. Add a little dash of faith in God to get it done
and there is nothing to stop you!
Heavenly Father,
help us to do what you have called us to do; show us the little that we may
turn it into many with Your blessing upon it and us. Show us the call to fulfill
the need, in Jesus’ name, amen.
