Dailies~ In His Word 2019

Dailies ~in His Word
September 2019
Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.  They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanks by faithful people who know the truth.  Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks.  For we know it is made acceptable by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:1-5
I can open up this can of worms but mostly my focus on this group of scriptures is not about the itemized things but the fact that God created things for us that are good, but that in all of this it is acceptable to have them if it lines up with the Word of God and prayer.
In all of this chapter we can find that prayer changes things. If we did not have prayer we could not get right with God. We would have no way of communicating our desires and our needs without taking to Him, and He is the one who created this thing called prayer.
Many people do not thing prayer changes things. I will show you a couple if examples other than that that is above.  First know that Jesus taught us to pray according to the Gospels. He taught us what to do and what not to do in our prayer time. He even suggests taking time alone with Him. Some people call that T.A.W.G time! Time alone with God.
We are told not to waste time in prayer but to speak the heart felt needs and desires to Him straight up.
“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Matthew 6:5-7
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:6-8
There is so much to digest in these two chapters of Matthew. I encourage you to read through both of them and then stop and think a bit as you go.
Be blessed as you read, then take time to pray and thank God for His Word if nothing else. How great a God we have that gives us an instruction manual for life!
Heavenly Father, thank you for teaching us to pray today. Thank you for showing us reasons to pray and how to pray in Your Word. Help us to follow your directions and pray the effectual prayers.  In Jesus’ name amen.
