19-19
He said to them, “But who do you say that
I am?”
Simon Peter answered and said, “You are
the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:12
Peter was correct in his statement and further
on in this area of scripture, one chapter away in fact we find proof being
spoken to them.
While he was
still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice
came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am
well pleased. Hear Him!”
And when the
disciples heard it, they fell
on their faces and were greatly afraid. But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be
afraid.” When they had lifted up their eyes, they
saw no one but Jesus only. Matthew 17:5-8
Jesus went on to
tell them not to tell anyone of the thing they just saw until He was risen from
the dead.
Some people are
given dreams and visions today as well, but what do we do with them when they
happen? Some things are given to us to
keep to ourselves, other things are given to share with another that they may
grow in their gifts, or have faith in a trying time and know that God is with
them even still.
“And it shall come to pass afterward that
I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters
shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see
visions; Joel 2:28,
‘And it shall come to pass in the last
days, saith God, I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and
your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your
old men shall dream dreams. Acts 2:17
In the Matthew verses we see that the
vision was given with a purpose, to show the elect disciples who He really was
and to help them understand the days to come. The vision was not told to share
yet because it could change the whole way God’s plan worked out. It showed
Jesus that these men were trustworthy as well as encouraged the men to know the
truth.
Hmmm, I am reminded that the truth shall
set us free. This is an example in perfection. When we know that Christ is
Lord, when we accept that it is truth that He is the Truth, then we know God is
real. There is so much real freedom in our lives at that moment and there
really is no way to explain the knowledge that we receive and how it touches
our heart and soul and no matter how amazed we are and the truth, it is the
truth. Sometimes we try to figure Christ out as logic, but in the end we
realize He is not about logic, unless you realize that the only logical ting is
or Christ to be the Son of God, and God Himself who created the World in the
first place. I mean if that is logic sure!
I do know that I trust my God to guide my steps each day and lead me to
each new truth I learn about Jesus!
I know that if He gives me a dream there
is a purpose in it.
I trust Him to show me the reason and the
answer.
Heavenly Father, direct our dreams and
visions to follow the path you have planned for us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
