Dailies ~ In His Word -8/19/19
Do the thing! You’ve got this!
Watch ye, stand
fast in the faith, do manfully, and be strengthened. Let all your
things be done in charity. 1 Corinthians 16:13
Or to
paraphrase; Watch out, be sure that you stand in the faith and you will gain
strength from God. Make sure everything you do is done in love!
Sometimes
things come railing at us, we can do nothing but run; God’s Word says we can do
more; we can stand fast in the faith and the strength in His Word! We can be sure that the Word will strengthen
our resolve as much as we can be sure that God will be there for us when we
need Him. I other words as we have faith in Him to provide, help, health, or
direction so will God see our bravery.
Standing fast
is being brave, strong in Faith and trusting God to do it! So whatever we are
praying for, or that is coming at us, if we stand firm on the Truth in His Word
then we will come out of it victorious.
There are a lot
of things that can build our faith, as they say. We can read our Bible, listen
to praise and worship music, we can spend time praying, gathering together with
other believers or alone. We can share our faith with others by telling others
what God has done, which also increases our faith and trust in God because it
reminds us that He has done it before, come through for us, and He will do it
again!
This summer
while walking on a trail that was rougher than I had thought it would be, right
after a steep climb in stairs, during a long day to start with, I was ready to
stop and go back to get a ride to my car some how. Instead I thought about the
water at the end of the trail. I thought of the refreshing coolness I would
plunge into at the end… of the rugged walk. Sweat dripped as the short walk
turned into a couple of thousand steps on a pedometer. The water turned out to
not be the best swim spot and our time took so much longer that we had to head back
quickly. It was beautiful scenery on the way down. Though I stubbed my foot
into a rock and a log and at least one other walk, my friends husband pulled
out a chair she had been carrying and allowed me to sit for a moment on the way
down. I was able to put my feet in the water for a few minutes and that cooled
me down enough that on the way back I could keep going up the incline. I was amazed at the way the cooling had helped
my achy legs to feel better.
Still the incline was more than a little walk and my mind
kept fighting me to keep a good attitude… lets face it I can be a real baby
over things like this. One thing kept coming to my mind when I was ready to
give up and ask for help and a ranger to come and get me… “the joy of the Lord
is my strength” and “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” ! that’s
two scriptures but one thing, the Word of God!
I had planned to have a ride from the paved area at the top
to the cars where we had parked outside the park we were at. Just as we arrived
at the spot I would have waited I decided to keep going. I can do this! I told
myself, and I continued on to the beautiful bridge over the water than runs to
the magnificent Burney Falls, I relished in the fact that I had not fallen as I
was ready to walk up a steep incline again. One that for three years treks I
had needed help on, I went up it on my own strength! Well mine and the Lord’s!
I got to the top and shouted out “Whoo hooo! THANK YOU
JESUS I made it!”
People around me looked at me quizzically. They had no idea
the battle that went on inside my mind that day. I was ready to give up and I
found a way to stay strong. I plugged on and got to my car, drank some no longer iced but cold coffee I had in it and drove back to our waiting dinner. It was great!
Sometimes it’s a matter of remembering to stand fast in the
truth that God is with us wherever we go, even on the trails in the wilderness
He will bring us through; if we put our trust in Him to do so!
Be brave today, be strong! For the Lord our God is with you
wherever you go!
Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us strength in You.
Help us to plug on through the day no matter how much longer it seems to us…in
Jesus’ name, amen.
