In His Word
June
25, 2019
Today I watched and the torch of one high school graduate
serving in a church was passed to another young adult ready to serve. The one
is going on to higher education and the other has been there and is now in the
school o f life. It made me think about my own children. They said train up a
child in the way they should go and when they were old it would not depart from
them. The Word of God speaks that to us; but do we train them up as we choose
or they do? How do we know if we have done a good job?
I rejoiced greatly
that I have found some of your
children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father. And now I plead with you, lady,
not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from
the beginning: that we love one another. This is love; that we walk according to His commandments.
This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you
should walk in it. 2 John 1:4-6
Every tree that does not bear good fruit
is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits
you will know them. Matthew 7: 19-20
When our adult offspring share
the love of Jesus with those around them…
We have trained them up
correctly.
When they help someone in need,
we have trained them up wisely.
When they make the right
decisions with their lives, we have trained them up trustworthy.
When they walk in His love, we
have trained them up strong.
When we said choose you this day
whom you will serve, and they chose God.
They have grown up in the way
that they should go… it shall not depart from them. His word said so!
Heavenly Father, thank you that
you instructed our children in the way they should go, and that we were taught
to train them up to love you, In Jesus’ name, amen.
