Did you even listen? Dailies in His Word

Dailies~ In His Word
June 2019

Three times in Matthew Jesus told the disciples of His then upcoming death and resurrection.  Three times they just did not ‘get it’. They focused on the death and were full of sorrow. They could not get past the sacrifice to see the promise of salvation.
We often do the same; we focus on the emotional turmoil at hand, perhaps even a tragedy instead of the healing, hope, and renewal that will come because of it.

Now while they were [a]staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men,  and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up.” And they were exceedingly sorrowful. Matthew 17:22-23

It is like when Peter gets all up in a tizzy and prideful and says he wont let that happen to Jesus and that he would never leave Him … and yet he did on that same day. If only temporarily Peter learned that what Jesus said was truth, even if it was a truth he did not want to admit.
He reveals truth in us today as well if we look for it. We often do not like what we see and we try to gloss it over or focus on other things, but if we endure we will come out shining in the end.
The disciples were shown the ultimate lesson in listening to God, they saw Jesus die and saw Him after He was raised. Proof in the end of the trial? Well except it was just another beginning or renewal of a plan.  Jesus came back and reminded them of all He had told them regarding His life goals for them. They took the time to pay attention to it all and then went and did what it was that God, Jesus, told them to do!
It is amazing what we can glean from God and His Word when we take the time to listen.

Heavenly Father, Show us your plan for us today, give us your voice to speak to the masses or the many that need to hear your life giving Word today. Help us to listen and then to go do. In Jesus name, Amen
