Dailies ~in His Word

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ
has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
Galatians 5:1
We got rid of the
bondage so let’s stop taking it back!
We have been
given freedom in Christ. All the sins we have ever committed have been removed
from us, some say even those that we would commit were removed when Christ died
on the cross for us. He left us with His
Spirit in order to direct us in doing the right things, and not to add to the
pain of the Cross but to walk by the Spirit in peace and sanctification fresh
each day.
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify
the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is
contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They
are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
Galatians 5:16-17
Yet,
for some reason, we live in a world where the works of the flesh, the sins of
the world are manifested right in front of us all of our lives. Due to this it is sometimes difficult to
avoid them all together. Oh sure we can avoid the big ones but what about “strive,
envy, wrath, divisions, drunkenness, jealousies,” these are the things that are
less obvious to us but are still the enemy drawing us into a life of confusion.
They are contrary to the Spirit of God that resides in us and so we battle
them, or rather they battle within us. Sometimes we can get irritated over
things that are not worth the worry, but God wants us to forget them, to
forgive as He has forgiven us.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: fornication, uncleanness,
lasciviousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wrath,
factions, divisions, parties, envyings, drunkenness, revelings, and such like; of which
I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practice such things
shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21
Taking a moment to look at the list I am sure you will
find something to ask God forgiveness for and ask for His calming Spirit to
rule in your heart and mind. I know I did when I read this today!
Heavenly
Father, forgive us our trespasses, our lies, our wrath, our jealousies, and
help us to release them and the people who cause these things to walk into our
lives. Help us to stay strong in Your Spirit and be faithful to the Word of God
in our lives as we follow Your lead. Help us to forgive them for they know not
what they do. In Jesus' name, amen.
