Dailies~ In His Word
April 5, 2019
April being a month we celebrate Easter, and Resurrection
Day, a lot of flowers are blooming, animals being born, weddings often planned;
it’s a time of new beginning!
It is inevitable that we will talk about the best new
beginning, Jesus resurrection!
Today I am about join some women
and study His Word, one area being when Peter walked on the water.
And a
great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already
filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke
Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Then He arose
and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace be still!” And the wind ceased and
there was a great calm. Mark 4:37-39
Peter was shown to have faith in Jesus to calm the storm. Then in Matthew 14:29-32 we read about him
having faith to walk to Jesus… almost.
In the scripture above we see that Jesus also calmed the
storm in another area, but for now let’s think about Peter, the guys are out
thee fishing, and in the wee hours they see Jesus coming to them on the water. The
new thing? Peter asked Jesus to call him if He was really He. Peter overcame doubt that this was a ghost,
and He stepped out in faith.
When we step out in faith every time it’s a new thing! Just
like the flowers that bloom each spring, they are always new even though it’s
the same tree.
What is God going to do for you that is new? For Peter it
was learning that He only needed to trust God and do what He said to walk on
water; without doubting or fearing he was doing the wrong thing, or that it was
impossible. For nothing is impossible with God.
Lets look to God today for our direction, should we walk on
water?
Heavenly Father, calm the storms in us and give us the
faith to walk on water faithfully following the path you give. In Jesus’ name,
amen.
