Jesus so gets us! He not only goes through the chapter
telling the disciples, and inadvertently us that it was okay because He knew things
would come up before them, and us that would try to make us stumble and so He
shared wisdom and insight to give us all a heads up. Even still when we say “I
believe Jesus is the son of God”, He hears them, and us say it and asks them. “Do
you believe?” I see Jesus in today’s
world standing there arms crossed leading back a little squint eyes and head at
an angle saying “Do you believe? Cause I mean I been telling you so much and
just now you get it? I mean.. It’s good and about time that you do; cause stuff
is going to happen... I mean really real stuff… just know that I am with you
though, always. It will be okay!”
Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? Indeed the hour is coming, yes,
has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of
good cheer, I have overcome
the world.” John 16:31-33
What I find so awesome about this section of scripture is
that He warns us bad stuff will come at us, but its okay! Its okay because He
took care of it, and us at the cross!
Today is ‘Good Friday’ and many people who don’t normally go
to church or mass will attend a service today to think about how God was hung
on the cross. My prayer is not just for those who to come, but to truly believe
that God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit are real, and that they are with us wherever
we go. That they would know and that we would know that we are ‘Overcomers’
because He overcame!
Heavenly Father, bring them in this weekend and draw them all
to You and Your saving knowledge of overcoming! In Jesus name, amen.
