Dailies ~in His Love
April 17, 2019
Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.  This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet  acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here. But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them. But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. 1 John 1-6
There sure are a lot of people who think they know what God said in the world today. How do we know the truth? How can we know if they are telling us what God wants us to hear?  The Word of God calls it discernment of spirits, in other words a lot of the time we get what they call a “gut feeling” about what they said. The Holy Spirit or Comforter that Jesus gives us when we are saved tells us yes or no. God’s Spirit within us identifies with Himself in another believer. The trust stands up to the Truth!  Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light, remember?
And You will know the truth and the truth shall set you free! John 8:32
Pray for understanding, for recognition of the Spirit of Truth within the words that you hear or read. Ask God today to direct your path and give you ears to hear and eyes to see what it is that He is saying to you!
Heavenly Father, grant us discernment of spirits when people try to give us ‘a word’ let us know if it is truly a word from you. Let the words of their mouth line up with the Word. In Jesus name, amen.
