Stop trying to figure it out! In His Word 3-11-19

Stop trying to figure it out! In His Word

Sometimes we start our day right, we pray, we read and we think we have the right path to follow but things change. Whether it is a rock in the trail that trips us up, or the weather turns bad and washes out our train as it seems slowing our process we need to remember that God’s magnificent wisdom has an answer to what we seek… in His Word!

For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 8 32-34

It can be hard at times trying to keep to the path and not look ahead, wondering what’s going to come around that next curve in the trail; but God says to seek Him first, and that the rest of it will come. We need to stop worrying about tomorrow because it will have its own things to deal with and get to the point right now. Focus on now, don’t try to figure it out!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.
 Proverbs 3:5-6

We always do don’t we? We always try to figure out what God is doing and where He is taking us next, when we need to just trust that He has our best interest in mind. Trust Him to direct us when we need to be directed. Look to Him for guidance constantly and consistently in our lives!

Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God. Psalm 146:3-5

Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.  Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.  They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright. Psalm 20:6-8

Why bother trusting in ourselves unless it is trusting that we are following God correctly?  He has our best interest remember? Also recall that He has the top to the puzzle with all the pieces and places memorized as to where we need to be placed next! When you think about it; it is kind of feeble minded to think we know more than God!
That is what we are doing when we think we need to check up on His progress or program for our lives.
Let’s do something today to change that! How about if we decide to stop looking ahead that far and concentrate on the space God is walking us on. Don’t worry what your friend is doing down the road, God’s got that too! Who cares what they are doing anyway, you have no control over that, what you do have control over is listening to God who knows where you are personally. Look through the Bible today and read a few psalms of encouragement or a story of how someone beat the odds and accept the direction it brings you instead of wallowing in self pity over the stressful situation you put yourself into by trying to take a faster route! Instead lift up the stressful situation to God and ask Him to direct you down off that cliff!
Let’s try harder to trust Him today, in all areas of our lives.
In Jesus’ name!

Dear heavenly Father, help us to trust You more than ourselves in all we do, in Jesus’ name, amen.
