Dailies ~ in His Word

But wait there’s more! Many
of us have heard this quote a few hundred times… ”let everyone be swift to
hear, slow to speak and slow to anger…”But there is more to it than that, God
shows us here how to be happy in all we do!
So then, my brethren beloved, let every man be swift to hear, slow
to speak, slow to anger, for the wrath of a man the righteousness of God doth not work; wherefore having put aside all filthiness and superabundance of
evil, in meekness be receiving the engrafted word, that is able to save your
souls; and become ye doers of the word, and not
hearers only, deceiving yourselves, because, if any one is
a hearer of the word and not a doer, this one hath been like to a man viewing
his natural face in a mirror, for he did view himself, and hath gone away, and immediately he
did forget of what kind he was; and he who did look into the perfect law -- that of liberty, and
did continue there, this one -- not a forgetful hearer becoming, but a doer of
work -- this one shall be happy in his doing. John 1:19-26 YLT version
So then we are to be
quick to hear things, or listen instead of speaking first, and then to wait
before we get upset and remember that God wants to work in us with peacefulness
and meekness. We need to be about speaking good words, not cursing or cussing,
but thinking of good things when we get upset or angry. If we are really
hearing the Word of God as we read it then we can be sure the words that come
out of our mouth will be tempered in these things. Who do you think God wants
you to look like, or sound like? God, Himself? Or someone who has no idea who God is? In order to be a doer of the work that God
gives us we need to be in His Word to get the information He has put there for
us to share. If we are putting in the right things then the right things will
come out. To remember it we have to be in it regularly. Then we can be happy in
all we do, when we have His Word in our lives.
Wow, all of that and
more in that portion of scripture? Look
into the scriptures you hear portions of; look beyond the initial words and
find out where they go from there or where they came from!
Heavenly Father, let
these Dailies just be a taste of what goodness and wisdom is found in Your
Word. Show us more, that we may know you more! In Jesus name, amen.
