Dailies ~in His Word
Day 25
Does God need our worship? Some churches lift their hands in
worship as David talks of doing in Psalms, or Abraham did in the book of
Genesis. He also fell down with his face to the ground in worship to God.
We sometimes wonder if posture is important to God? Does it matter
if we are driving down the road singing songs of worship to Him? Or do we have
to be at church in order to worship? After all they call it a house of worship
some places.
God, who made the world and
everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not
dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped
with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all
life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all
the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the
boundaries of their dwellings, Acts 17:24-28
The book of John tells us here that Jesus taught us to worship in
spirit and truth. This means it is not about our posture but our heart because
with our heart we worship in spirit, and in truth, or we merely go through the
motions. Some people seem to do as one of my brothers said as a teen and “play
the roll” of worshiper. We need to be truthful when we worship and not just
doing the thing because it’s the ritual that we are taught. Think on this while
you spend time with Him today.
You
worship what
you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers
will worship
the Father in spirit and
truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him
must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:22-24
Heavenly
Father, thank you for allowing us to worship you, heart to Heart, spirit to
Spirit in truth. Showing you our love and honor of and for You. In Jesus name,
amen
