Dailies ~in His Word
Day 13
His
first last and his first breath - In
Mark we read of Jesus last breath on the cross as he gave up the ghost as it is
said, and took on our sins. He cried out the veil between God and man was torn
and we now have the opportunity to speak straight to God in faith.
And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last. Then the
veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Mark 15:37-38
Then we read in John 20 when Jesus breathed upon his disciples and
gave them the Holy Spirit. It came with directions to forgive sins, or not. It
was up to them now. In the same way it is in our hands as we too have been
given the Holy Spirit.
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me,
I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed
on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of
any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any,
they are retained.” John 20:21-23
Breathe
oh breath of God is part of a popular song and when I hear it I remember how
close we are really to God Himself. Thank you Jesus for going through the cross
for us!
Heavenly Father, thank you for this free gift to us, thank you that Jesus paid the price and thank you for Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, amen.
