Take it seriously – In His
Word 12-31-18
When we read the Bible for
study or for enjoyment we come across direction and guidance for our lives.
Each of us can find this if we take it seriously.
How many times have we
heard people say “Oh, that doesn’t mean us”, or “that doesn’t concern people
today…” when they are reading warnings or instructions in His Word?
I mean, sure some things
are about the history, but when God says to love one another or to worship Him
in spirit and in truth, we need to sit up and take notice. We need to take seriously
the fact that God wants us to spend time in His presence.
Adam and Eve did not take
the forbidden part of the garden seriously when Eve chose to listen to the
serpent and ignore the warnings.
They and we have had to
suffer the consequences.
He will keep in perfect
peace the person who keeps their mind on Him. If we trust Him to help us have
peace then we can trust that His Word is true.
You will
keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on
You, because he trusts in You. Trust in
the Lord forever. For in Yah,
the Lord, is everlasting strength.
Isaiah 26:3-4
Sing to Him a new
song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy. For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

Psalm 33:3-5
It is the time of year , the beginning,
when we start new plans, or new ideas for how we think we can revive our lives
and better ourselves. Why not make it a plan this year to get into His Word
more?
Here is my plan;
Each day for the beginning of this year
I will post a small devotion and try to encourage you to get into His Word
more. The Monday versions will be longer of course so that we keep the
continuity of In His Word the article. I feel lead by the Word and Truth to
share daily for at least the first 21 days. I hope you will follow the posts on
Facebook :In His Love. It is what I decided was my way to ‘take it seriously’
when God said to go into all the world. What a better way of speaking the Word
than by the internet that goes into all the world?
Later He appeared to the
eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of
heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is
baptized will be saved; but he who does not
believe will be condemned. And
these signs will follow
those who believe: In My name they will
cast out demons; they will speak with
new tongues: they will
take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt
them; they will lay hands on
the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:14-18
The Word needs to go out and we need to
be, as Jesus told his mother when he was 12 and had been speaking and teaching
in the Temple and did not leave when his family did.
And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”
Luke 2:49
Even
at a young age He took His purpose serious. I choose to do so as well.
I will title the little devotionals “In
His Word Dailies” to encourage each of us to get in the Bible daily and get
serious about our walks with God Himself.
He really wants us to grow closer to Him,
more like Him, and love like Him and the only way I know to do this is the
Word, and prayer.
What will you do this year? How will
you do the Word?
Let us embark on this trail together!
Let’s get in His Word today, this week, this month and this year! Then let’s
continue to walk in the Word as we go about our lives being purposeful in all
that we do.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to dig in
and do the Word, help us to read it and do what it says, in Jesus name, amen.
