What are You Wearing? In His Word

What are you wearing – In His Word 11-19-18

Before we go anywhere we decide what we are wearing. Whether it is by rote, or by contemplation we pick and choose our clothing each day. We style our hair the way we choose to style it to look our best, and head out the door.

Our outer make up is formed to present ourselves to the world as we choose to look.
What of our inner selves? Does our outer dress show what we are like on the inside?
Take a moment and look at your style or your brand; what does it say about you?

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26-28

When we put on Christ, or accepted Him as our Lord, and were baptized we showed the world our inner garments. We confessed to all who would hear that we had chosen to put our lives into His hands. Baptism is often called the outward confession of faith. So we shine with the Holy Spirit presence, or at least we should. How can we do this? By behaving as Christ would behave.

But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:21-24

We accept Jesus as our Lord and then we work with Him through the Holy Spirit to become the men or women that He chose for us to become. How can we do this? Life is hard, temptation is all around us; how can we be true and righteous in such an unrighteous world?

The word of God tells us to put on the armor of God, and to put on the new man.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Galatians 6:10-12

In this we can be strong! We can walk with Christ each day exemplifying who we are in Him. We can produce the spiritual and visual appearance of Christ in us by how we behave. When we put on the armor we can stand against the temptations that we live near, they will not tempt us nor will they draw us in because we have put on Christ by daily reading, daily prayer, even more so as the days get darker. Because when the Word says to put it on it does not mean we take it off but instead we live it out! In order to keep our armor shiny and in good shape we must keep it polished in the Word.

When we get ready for work we think about how we will represent our company but do we even think about how we will represent our Lord?

In the Bible when we see people feeling upset they put on sackcloth and ashes.
to,
When Mordecai learned all that had happened, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the midst of the city. He cried out with a loud and bitter cry. Esther 4:1

They did this to show how they felt so everyone would know that they were upset about a situation. How they stood for certain ideas or injustices; “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.  The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy.
Romans 13:11-13

Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires. Romans 13:14

You can be in His presence each day, each moment that you do you will be walking in the Style of Christ! Let your brand be a representation of Him. The only way to know what His will is would be to know Him. The one way to know Him is to spend time in prayer, and in His Word today.
Be blessed in your time with Him by focusing on the things He has put before you. Put on the mind of Christ and walk showing off your peace, hope, grace and mercy that comes with Him.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your presence. Help us to exemplify You and Your will in our lives daily, that others will want to know You too, In Jesus name, amen
