Who
was He? In His Word 6-4-18
While
reading today in the Word of God I realized something, I mean, I had read it
before but it stood out to me today; they excommunicated a min who was
miraculously healed from blindness.
My
first thought was “What where they
thinking? If someone was miraculously healed it had to be of God!”
Although
after re-reading a few times I realized that the people who did not believe
were actually blinded to the truth. I found that ironic!
The
blind saw and the sight was taken from the leaders who could only see I the
physical.
Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was
blind from birth. And His
disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents,
that he was born blind?” Jesus
answered, “Neither this man nor his parents
sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. I must
work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is
coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John
9:1-5
Jesus knew of course that they would not
believe. And he knew they would be asking about it; He probably purposefully
did not give the now seeing man his name.
When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made
clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the
clay. And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which
is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing. Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he
was blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”
Some said, “This is he.”
Others said, “He is like
him.”
He said, “I am he.”
Therefore they said to him, “How
were your eyes opened?” He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and
anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.” Then they said to him, “Where is He?”
He said, “I do not know.”
They brought him who formerly was
blind to the Pharisees. Now it was
a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. Then the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his
sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”
Therefore some of the Pharisees
said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the
Sabbath.”
Others said, “How can a man
who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them.
They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him
because He opened your eyes?”
He said, “He is a prophet.” John 9:6-17
Who
was this man who could do that which God could do and heal? Do you not just
want to go back I time and tell them “Hello? Do you know your own scriptures?”
If
we are honest with ourselves today we could ask ourselves the same questions;
who is the one who heals us when we are sick? Is it a doctor? Or is it really
God?
Was
it not God who gave the doctors knowledge to know how to do things?
Is
not God capable of doing things like this as well today? Yes He is!
I
have been healed without knowledge of how or why before, aside from the faith
of a few close friends there is no reason to my knowledge of why God chose to
heal my torn rotator cuff. Still it baffled the surgeon who could not find the
tear that was clearly there before we prayed!
Sometimes
Doctors will be sure that someone got the wrong information before they will
accept that it was an act of God. My doctor just wasn’t sure. He just could not
find it, and the nurse came to see me after and allowed me to testify of it. Is
this something I should share? Yes for sure! God heals us today! Also some may
ask why I had surgery if it was healed. There were other issues from a former
pedestrian vs car accident that came out during their search for the tear; they
found a broken bone fragment floating around. They removed it and fixed another
bone issue while there! I would have suffered with pain from those two things
for much longer than the healing of the tear if they had found one!
My
God is able today to heal us! Sometimes it takes time, mud or water but
sometimes it is in an instant when we touch the hem of His garment.
Who
was he? Who was this Man called Jesus? The same God He is today! He can an d will heal today if we but have the
faith to trust Him to do so!
All
they did was ask!
Dear
heavenly Father, have mercy on us today and forgive us our doubts and heal us. Open
our hearts, minds, and our eyes to see. In Jesus name, amen.
