Work it out- In His Word
10-17-16
Do you ever get overwhelmed
with what to do, and what is right? Do you get upset because other people do
not do what you want them to do? How can we get over this and do the right
thing when we are full of unrighteousness? Let’s look in His Word and see what
we can find to strengthen our body, soul, and spirit today.
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are
considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead,
pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has
done. Then you will
experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace
will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one
final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and
pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and
worthy of praise. Keep putting
into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me
and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:4-9
Well, that was a brain full
of thoughts eh? Selah moments are made of these! (Selah means literally “Stop
and think about it”).
If only we could just read
it and suddenly everything would fall into place. Unfortunately life is not
like that, we can read it , and think on it and then we need to pray about it
and ask God to help us to be full of joy in the Lord; His peace that passes
understanding won’t come to us until we ask for it or so I have experienced. In
fact as I get over loaded with ‘stuff to do’ and get to the point that I do not
see any way on earth that I can do it all, or please all the people that I feel
that I should be pleasing; I can only remember that I can do all things through Christ! It is not by my own strength that I can do
anything; nothing is impossible with Him.
The disciples were astounded. “Then who in the world can be
saved?” they asked.27 Jesus looked
at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But
not with God. Everything is possible with God.”28 Then Peter began to speak up. “We’ve
given up everything to follow you,” he said. Mark 10:26-28
The thing is Jesus has the key a little further in Mark when He
prayed in the Garden
of Gethsemane
And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed
that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, Abba, Father, all things
are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I
will, but what thou wilt. Mark 14:35-36
Not what I will;
but Your will be done. When we are feeling overloaded, or under
appreciated, or just like we cannot do it or even if we just would really
rather that we didn’t have to be the one to complete a certain task; remember
that Jesus completed the task.
His task was not
his fault.
His didn’t make
the ‘mess’ people did.
He was not the
only person who could make a way to heaven, but He did.
Jesus may have
had all of our complaints rolled up into that prayer but then he said, “Not my
will but yours be done Father” and did it anyway.
What can we learn from
Jesus’ example? He prayed about it, He took the righteous path. He took the
road he’d rather not follow but knew it was not his will but His will that was
important. He did what had to be done; and great things have come from it!
If it has to be done, if we
are the one, then we must do it! Even if it means we have to get our hands
dirty.
What can we do to fix our
situations? Pray and ask God if there is any other way, then if not then accept
this thing we cannot change. He bore such a larger burden than we ever could,
but perhaps this thing is just the burden we must bear. I think the attitude is
a main point here; not my will but Yours dear Father.
If the thing can be changed
or redirected do so, but if not then just get on with it!
Dear Heavenly Father, thank
You for the examples in Your Word, our Bibles today. Help us to seek you and
the Bible to find the answers we need for today’s problems, every day! Guide us
in our path as we continue to walk it with You.
