Making New Things Good in His Word

Making New Things Good In His Word-8-29-16
As my youngest goes away to University this fall I find I do not like the changes that God has given me, it is hard to acknowledge the time of growing my children and training them up is gone; but I know that I must accept them and walk in His path for me.
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” Revelation 21:4-5

Changes; they are not all bad, but it is often hard for us to accept that change must come. Some things are easy to change; new clothes, shoes, cars. Other things mean a whole new start and it is not always to change up what we were into, or what we were doing and start with a new plan.
That is just what God is in the business of doing with people; from Adam to Moses, there is proof of His making change, and from then on there are too many to number! Whoever said that God does not change His mind or plans is not reading my Bible!
He is a God of compassion and because of this He has taken upon Himself to move people to produce submission in their hearts toward Him.
I mean this wholeheartedly my God has changed things as powerful as allowing His chosen anointed king to be captured along with the rest of the people to prove the point of their need to obey Him; He has also done as small a change as having compassion and allowing people to continue walking their path just with a slight alteration because they have shown repentance toward Him.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3

So why do people buck change? Change is good! It just sometimes hurts a little to be stripped away from our comfort zones and be pushed into a new zone that is really going to be better and often makes us stronger and more prosperous in our lives toward God and men. In other words; both physically and spiritually, we grow when we are processing change in our lives. That is when we allow God to direct the changes. We trust Him to know what they are doing, what they need, and where they will go. They must walk in their consequences.

What sorrow awaits those who try to hide their plans from the Lord,
who do their evil deeds in the dark!“ The Lord can’t see us,” they say.
“He doesn’t know what’s going on!” How foolish can you be?  He is the Potter, and he is certainly greater than you, the clay! Should the created thing say of the one who made it, “He didn’t make me”? Does a jar ever say, “The potter who made me is stupid”? Isaiah 29:16-17a

When God brings change into our lives we need to embrace the change; trust Him to guide us and follow His direction.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6

Why do we dislike change so much? I believe it is because we are set in our ways, we like to keep the control in our lives and when things change it means we are no longer the one in charge. Take for instance the growth of our children to the point of adulthood. We train up our children in the way they should go but when its time for them to do just that, ‘go’ we do not want to let them go off on their own and make their own minds up about things. We have to allow them to be their own selves and yet we want to tell them what to do at every turn. It is time for us to stop being God. Ouch, did I say that? Well yes, it is a god complex that sees another one I guess. I have a habit of trying to make the lives of my family walk the way I want them to walk, talk the way I want them to talk and think the way that I want them to think; but God has them in His hands and He is in control, not me. Once I realize and accept that God has their best interest in mind and remember that my husband and I have truly trained them up in the way they should go, then I can pretty must rest knowing He will never leave them nor forsake them.
So even though their change is to make their own choices now, my change is to pray that they keep focused on Him.
He will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him. Trust God and He will direct your path; their part is to trust Him to direct them not me.

As the school year starts and your kids begin to learn anew thing, the time has come for us parents, aunts and uncles or grandparents to trust that we have a God who will go with our kids to classes. What we can do now is change our position from the one who walks with them telling them what to do to the one who encourages them with little notes of faith and love and hope to find in pockets and back packs and cars, or emails and texts. Though they may fuss about them I assure you they will get the words in their hearts and minds and know that God and you love them.
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 1 Corinthians 5:11

It may be time for us to put away childish things, games and bubble gum are traded for cars and jobs; when we grow we have to let go of the past and move on to what is in front of us that we may be strong in His power and might.

Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Ephesians 4:14-16

It is my prayer today that each of us, both parent, or non parent, child or adult will truly work together with God keeping our minds and hearts geared to here what He has to say to us each day; when there is change or when things stay the same; that we put our trust, hope and love in Him and His direct line of path to walk. We need to let the new beginnings come in our lives that we may walk in the promise land, and enjoy it goodness! If Israel had not left Egypt they would never have found the milk and honey!

Dear Heavenly father, help us to embrace the change as You bring it into our lives and to walk gracefully in the path You have put before us no matter how far off of the one we thought you were putting there. Help us to know Your voice  and follow it, as we are your sheep. Keep us obediently humble,In Jesus name, amen.

Renovate Your Life in His Word! 8-22-16

Renovate your life in His Word! 8-22-16

There are so many shows out right now about renovating your home, or renovating someone else’s home that I was encouraged to think about our lives and how God renovates them when we give over and accept that He wants to.

I guess as with any home we can get complacent and set in our ways. A home is built strong but as things happen through the years whether by weather or mistreatment there are often holes in walls or doors from doorknobs to furniture moving. It is up to us to make sure that we get the right treatments for each item in need of repair or the whole place falls down around us.

With our lives it is not much different; through the years we get dents and nicks maybe a few bruises or broken bones and we need fixing physically; so we go to the doctor. Spiritually we are even closer to the damage because we can walk through life not realizing we have a breastplate of righteousness waiting for us to put on to protect our hearts, and a helmet of salvation to protect our minds from accepting lies of the world. God provides all these things but just like the home owner has to go pick up the  paint to touch up the walls and get new tiles when the old ones fail so we need to pick up the Bible and get our helmets polished and breastplate secured to keep us safe. The difference is that our ‘store’ is in His Word!  God created it to be beautiful and yet strong!

And he made the breastplate, artistically woven like the workmanship of the ephod, of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and of fine woven linen. They made the breastplate square by doubling it; a span was its length and a span its width when doubled. Exodus 39:8-10

Through out the book of Exodus from chapter 25 to 39 there are descriptions of the breastplate created for the priests garments; in Ephesians 6 we read of one created for protection. A spiritual breastplate with the workmanship of the Holy Spirit specifically to protect us from the attacks from the enemy!

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, Ephesians 6:14
The breastplate is given to keep our heart safe and righteous before God.

Our God gives us what we need to stay in touch with Him and away from the things we do not need in our lives and yet we often do not realize that He has provided comfort and peace, life worth living and hope for tomorrow all in His Word!
Why do we not see the good things He has put in our Bibles to nourish us each day? Because we don’t take the time and make the time to settle in and really read and apply what He has given us. Ask yourself right now; ‘how many minutes do I read daily’?

Then think of your other favorite pass time, gaming, working out at the gym, watching movies or playing a sport or even crafting can get more of our time that simply spending time in the Word and prayer.

Once we spend more time in the Word and prayer we will find that things don’t ‘get to us’ as easily as they had been; a flat tire will be just another bump in the road. A burnt meal will be a reason to create some new dish for supper. A bad hair day will be a reason to create a new look! God is awesome and He will provide what we need but we need to give up a little of our selfish desires in order to see what His desire is for us.

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

God gave up way more of Himself than we can ever give up for Him, and yet if we give our time to Him we will find everything else we have more enjoyable, more fulfilling, and more complete.
I challenge you to read more of your Bible this week than you have last week. If it helps take a note book out ( they are really cheap this time of the year) and write out the scriptures that stand out to you and then write yourself a note of why. If you cannot write use a voice activated program and speak text yourself of the goodness you found in the Word today.

Words... in His Word 8-15-16

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight O’Lord. Psalm 19:14

We have often heard this scripture quoted but have you ever read the rest of the story in Psalm 19? Too often we are happy to just here one or two scriptures without looking it up to see what it was there for; lets read the full chapter, Psalm 19:1-14.

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices like a strong man to run its race.  Its rising is from one end of heaven and its circuit to the other end; and there is nothing hidden from its heat. The law of the Lord is perfect converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired they are than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter than the honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned and in keeping them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression.  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:1-14

.

Do you find yourself hungry for the Word of God each day? Do you wonder about what good thing you will receive from reading your next passage?

Do you really meditate on His Word and think about how to put it to practice or how it affects your daily life?

If you answered any of these with either ‘sometimes’ or ‘I think so’ then you are on the right track!  Obviously we all have days when we allow ourselves to be too busy , either due to work related business or family or just plane distractions that keep us from a really good meal in the Word of God; but on such days we should still think of the Word. We should think about what we have learned in the weekly, daily or whatever time we have studied the Bible and ask God to bring it to usefulness in our day. Really what else matters as much as living the Word in our daily life? If we do not follow Christ’s example through out our days, and think about what God has said in His Word, why do we bother to call ourselves Christians? After all a Christian is someone who is of Christ in the way that an American or Canadian are of their country. We live in Christ; but do we follow Him? Not like we should!
Was that too harsh? If it feels harsh there is probably something in your life that you know is coming between you and your Bible.

Can you or I actually say we are blameless? Not truthfully; but it is not about blaming ourselves or someone else it is about living a life pleasing to God to the best of our abilities.
‘But I can’t be perfect! I am only human!” you may think; and rightly so because we cannot be perfect. We cannot be blameless in our actions, as humans we are bound to fail no matter how hard we try.
I tried to be honest and truthful as a child; I failed as soon as it meant I would hurt someone else’s feelings because the fact was I wanted everyone to love me like I loved. If I told the truth about something a friend did, or wanted to do, when I thought it was wrong would I hurt our friendship?  Those are things we worry about, hurting other people and causing them pain can cause us to do the wrong thing. We like to call it peer pressure but really it is the pressure of our sinful nature attempting to justify the wrong we choose to do.  We are horrible, we people. We sin, and we try to justify it to God and man claiming ‘the devil made me do it’ or someone else; and yet there I still hope for us!
God sent His own son so that we could achieve the pure heart, the cleaning from sin, and the ability to understand and grow wise in His Word. Even though we did not deserve it He gave us redemption, freedom and all we have to do for it is trust Him, believe Him, and follow as He leads us.
How do I know this? It’s in His Word!
Pick yours up today, read and meditate on His thoughts for you…

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us Your Word to study and to learn more about you each day. Help us to make the time to dig in and feed by reading every day as often as we can in order to be spiritually strong, and full of the fruits of the spirit. Thank you for your love for us, in Jesus name, amen.

Do you--Know Him in His Word?

Do you--Know Him in His Word?
Do you know Jesus? Do you really know Him? Is He a part of your daily life; or just ‘there’ when you are available and its convenient?
This week I was reading the Word of God in John, and in Matthew and it came to my attention that we need to know Him, abide with Him, and abide in Him to get to heaven. Its not just saying the ‘salvation prayer’ that gets us saved, it’s not the work we do; it is truly knowing and being known by Him.

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did not we prophecy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me you evildoers!’ Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the wind blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  Matthew 7:21-25

Just because we go to church every Sunday does not mean we are saved and going to heaven when we die. Just because we call ourselves ‘Christians’ if we do not truly know the Lord Jesus and abide in Him we are not of Christ.

I am the true vine, ad My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch I Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that I may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me…He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. ..If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15:1-10.

So how do you become one of those who ‘abide with Him’ and what does that mean?
To abide with Him means to “put up with, stand for, bearing with, stomach, take, or tolerate” according to the Thesaurus. It has also been defined as “to live with, be joined to” in a dictionary.

Think for a moment, do you live with Jesus in your life, truly in your life? Or would you say you are more like the person who is there but not relational? Personally I hope that I will be found as one who is living with Christ, standing for Him, bearing with Him and tolerating His direction in my life.
To abide with Christ, in Christ we must first make the connection with Christ. Ask Him to be Lord of your life and admit to Him that you believe all that He is, and does, is truth. Then don’t stop the communication. Connect with Him daily; often as you think to do so.

So many people accept Christ only to disconnect the line after they get the bonus of Salvation. His talk of if you join with me and I join with you like a branch is joined to the vines is the perfect example of staying connected to get the nutrients.
However you look at it Jesus is wanting us to be part of His life as much as He is a part of ours, more so even! He wants us to be totally connected, standing for Him, just as much as He is tolerating our misconceptions, our misunderstanding what His Word is saying and following after the wrong leaders; He ‘stomachs’ or ‘swallows’ our problems and cleans us up because He becomes a part of us. He becomes a part of our lives in a way that we are useless without Him. We can only do this if we stay there in His presence; not many plants can stay alive without the vine, or main body of the plant. If I abide in my home, it means that is where I go each day when I am done with work or play.

This means we also need to return to Him daily or often. The cool thing about abiding in Christ is that it comes out in what we do, or in our ‘fruits’. A grape vine produces grapes not apples, when it stays plugged in to the root-system.

Our root-system is the Holy Spirit that keeps us plugged in. We also will have a better chance of producing good fruit staying connected to Christ and His people because they are our fertilizer and keep us healthy.
To clarify;
1-    pray to receive Christ
2-    talk with Him daily
3-    follow Him in His Word
4-    do what He says
5-    Abide in Him and allow Him to abide with you.

Then if we make requests known to God they will come about. The thing is when we are that connected we are not going to ask for anything that is not in His will. The more you are around your friends the more you pick up their way of thinking or doing things; the more you are around Christ the more you will do things and think things the way He would have you do them.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not in your own understanding. Proverbs 5:6

Get connected, trust Him follow Him and He will not steer you the wrong way.
Meet up with the Lord today; spend time talking to Him, listening for His still small voice and read the Word to know what to do, where to go and how to follow His commands.

Dear heavenly Father, thank you for wanting to know us and for us to know you. Help us to not just know of you but to truly know you personally by getting together with him daily. Help us to share your presence with those around us also that they too may be known by you. In Jesus name, amen

Are you Grasping or Gasping ... In His Word- 8-2-16

Are  you grasping or gasping

Do you ever feel like giving up? Just dropping out from everyone and running away to hide?

My life is continually in my hand,Yet I do not forget Your law.110 The wicked have laid a snare for me, Yet I have not strayed from Your precepts.111 Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, for they are the rejoicing of my heart. 112 I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes forever, to the very end. 113 I hate the double-minded, But I love Your law. 114 You are my hiding place and my
shield; I hope in Your word.115 Depart from me, you evildoers, for I will keep the commandments of my God!116 Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live; and do not let me be ashamed of my hope.
 Psalm 119:110-116

I do. Some days the burden of carrying the Word to those who will listen is so hard that I cannot help but fall to my face in tears before the Lord when someone does not listen, or I fail to help a soul to be saved.

My soul clings to the dust; Revive me according to Your word.26 I have declared my ways, and You answered me; Teach me Your statutes. 27 Make me understand the way of Your precepts; So shall I meditate on Your wonderful works. 28 My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word.29 Remove from me the way of lying, and grant me Your law graciously. 30 I have chosen the way of truth; Your judgments I have laid before me.31 I cling to Your testimonies; O Lord, do not put me to shame! 32 I will run the course of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart. Psalm 119 26-32

It is even worse when someone I think is helping the cause turns against it in mid stream and grabs a hold of me to try to drown me with them. At times like that I am gasping for air, trying to grab the Word of God an get away to get a good feeding of scripture to strengthen my resolve to do His will not mine.
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5

The problem is sometimes God’s people, or those who claim to be so, are immature in their walk and easily lie. They do not always realize what they are doing is really being used by satan to pull a good plan away from its path but immature Christians can cause more damage than good at times. Why? Because they do not accept the truth in the Word as a complete spoken, breathed written word of God; and sometimes it is
15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work. Titus 1:15-16

Because they just have not learned enough of the truth in the Word. It isup to us who are more seasoned in the Word of God to bring them into the light of the truth and teach them His ways that they would not stumble and fall but instead they would walk pure and right before God.

This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. Titus 3:8

For this reason we must teach the young to know the truth that they may stand strong against the wiles of the devil and resist temptations.

Make Your face shine upon Your servant, and teach me Your statutes.136 Rivers of water run down from my eyes, because men do not keep Your law. Psalm 119:135-136

More mature Christians know that if they are not in the Word daily and every moment they feel weak that temptation will come and catch us like a snare. I mean look at Job. The whole book repeats the fact that He was a good man and yet satan threw stuff at him to prove he would disavow God and nothing got him down. Job trusted God, lost everything and nearly everyone in his life but kept the faith. We need to do this.

Not  all of us can do this, there are times I think I will just fall into the sand and get sucked right into it because I fail to see the humanness in other people. Then the Word of God comes up and the Holy Spirit lifts me up reminding me that it is only Christ that keeps me from falling and He can keep them from falling again. Not everyone will accept the Word, not everyone will walk the same spot on the path Jesus puts out for us that is why it says that the way is narrow.
So what do you do when you are gasping for air? You grasp the Word in your hands and you call upon the Holy Spirit to guide you to find the comfort you need, and the strength you need to withstand the darts of the devil. After all it’s not about me, it is about His kingdom.
Dear Heavenly Father, hold me up when I am ready to fall. Wipe my tears and here me call when I am down and weary and ready to give up give me your hope, your desire, your plan and give me feet strong enough to walk it out. In Jesus name, amen
