Are you grasping or gasping
Do you ever feel like giving
up? Just dropping out from everyone and running away to hide?
My life is continually in
my hand,Yet
I do not forget Your law.110 The wicked have laid a snare for me,
Yet I have not strayed from Your precepts.111 Your testimonies I have taken
as a heritage forever, for they are the
rejoicing of my heart. 112 I
have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes forever,
to the very end. 113 I
hate the double-minded, But I love Your law. 114 You are my hiding place and my
shield; I hope in Your word.115 Depart from me, you evildoers,
for I will keep the commandments of my God!116 Uphold me according to Your
word, that I may live; and do not let me be ashamed of my hope.
Psalm 119:110-116
I do. Some days the burden of carrying the Word to
those who will listen is so hard that I cannot help but fall to my face in
tears before the Lord when someone does not listen, or I fail to help a soul to
be saved.
My soul clings to the dust; Revive me according to Your word.26 I have declared my ways, and You answered me; Teach me Your statutes. 27 Make me understand the way of Your precepts; So shall I meditate on Your wonderful works. 28 My soul melts from heaviness; Strengthen me according to Your word.29 Remove from me the way of lying, and grant me Your law graciously. 30 I have chosen the way of truth; Your judgments I have laid before me.31 I cling to Your testimonies; O Lord, do not put me to shame! 32 I will run the course of Your commandments, for You shall enlarge my heart. Psalm 119 26-32
It is even worse when
someone I think is helping the cause turns against it in mid stream and grabs a
hold of me to try to drown me with them. At times like that I am gasping for
air, trying to grab the Word of God an get away to get a good feeding of
scripture to strengthen my resolve to do His will not mine.
For His anger is but for a moment, His
favor is for life; Weeping may
endure for a night, But joy comes in
the morning. Psalm 30:5
The problem is sometimes God’s
people, or those who claim to be so, are immature in their walk and easily lie.
They do not always realize what they are doing is really being used by satan to
pull a good plan away from its path but immature Christians can cause more
damage than good at times. Why? Because they do not accept the truth in the
Word as a complete spoken, breathed written word of God; and sometimes it is
15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and
unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know
God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable,
disobedient, and disqualified for every good work. Titus 1:15-16
Because they just have not
learned enough of the truth in the Word. It isup to us who are more seasoned in
the Word of God to bring them into the light of the truth and teach them His
ways that they would not stumble and fall but instead they would walk pure and right
before God.
This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to
affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to
maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. Titus
3:8
For this reason we must
teach the young to know the truth that they may stand strong against the wiles of the devil and resist temptations.
Make Your face shine upon Your servant,
and teach me Your statutes.136 Rivers of water run down from my eyes,
because men do not keep
Your law. Psalm 119:135-136
More mature Christians know
that if they are not in the Word daily and every moment they feel weak that
temptation will come and catch us like a snare. I mean look at Job. The whole
book repeats the fact that He was a good man and yet satan threw stuff at him
to prove he would disavow God and nothing got him down. Job trusted God, lost
everything and nearly everyone in his life but kept the faith. We need to do
this.
Not all of us can do this, there are times I think
I will just fall into the sand and get sucked right into it because I fail to
see the humanness in other people. Then the Word of God comes up and the Holy
Spirit lifts me up reminding me that it is only Christ that keeps me from
falling and He can keep them from falling again. Not everyone will accept the
Word, not everyone will walk the same spot on the path Jesus puts out for us
that is why it says that the way is narrow.
So what do you do when you
are gasping for air? You grasp the Word in your hands and you call upon the
Holy Spirit to guide you to find the comfort you need, and the strength you
need to withstand the darts of the devil. After all it’s not about me, it is
about His kingdom.
Dear Heavenly Father, hold
me up when I am ready to fall. Wipe my tears and here me call when I am down
and weary and ready to give up give me your hope, your desire, your plan and
give me feet strong enough to walk it out. In Jesus name, amen
