Don’t
become Stagnant in the Word- 3.7.2016
Ask
the Lord to seek to find anything in your heart and mind that may distract,
destroy or decoy you away from His best for you today. Ask Him to get rid of
the algae in your life.
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my
thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way
everlasting. Psalm
139:23-24 KJV
Are
you afraid of change? Do you greatly dislike it? Or maybe it just makes you a little
uncomfortable not knowing what comes next?
Imagine
for a moment that you were one of the people of Israel
who came out of Egypt .
You
were living a life of bondage, then suddenly it seems, within a week all the
things you knew have changed and you are on the run to the wilderness and
Promised Land of God. You find yourselves being chased by the people who were
oppressing you and there is a wall of water in front of you. You see no
physical escape from your pursuers but God has a plan. Suddenly the way is
visible to you and you follow the path He places before you and all is well you
rejoice as you get to safety and behind you your former captors are gone. You are free! After a few weeks you start to
feel a let down as food supplies dwindle and parties stop. What now? Where will
God take you next? What is more your leader goes off to a mountain and doesn’t
come back for quite some time? So you decide to take matters in your own hands.
You create your own leader, a golden idol because you sat there idle for too
many days talking about what was instead of focusing on what was ahead.
They
could have been looking to God themselves, they could have been looking to
their future and making plans for what could be ahead in the land God promised
them, but no. They became stagnant and worldly.
Has
God brought you out of the destroying influences in your life only to leave you
sitting in the “I’m saved, now what?” stage of your life? No! He has plans; He
has a purpose for you and me! (Jeremiah
29:11)
He will not leave you comfortless –
17 Even the
Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in
you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye
see me: because I live, ye shall live also. John 14:17-19 kjv.
He will not leave us alone.
Then the eleven
disciples went away into Galilee , into a
mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him:
but some doubted.18 And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me
in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28:17-20
Dig in the Word each
day; hunger and thirst for righteousness! God is calling us to His word today
and we need it and prayer to stay strong and healthy in the Sprit. Do not allow
yourself to become stagnant in reading, doing it just because its what you do
but dig in read it anew today! Begin a topical study, or read the study notes
again even if you read them before. Go back and re read an area you read
yesterday and think on it. Do not allow your faith to become cold, do not allow
your life to sit in limbo but find a way to serve Him in His Word!
“I know all the things
you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the
other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit
you out of my mouth! Revelation 3:15-16
3 When I think of all this, I, Paul, a prisoner of
Christ Jesus for the benefit of you Gentiles ... 2 assuming, by the way, that you know God gave me
the special responsibility of extending his grace to you Gentiles. 3 As I briefly wrote earlier, God himself revealed
his mysterious plan to me. 4 As you read what I have written, you will understand my insight into
this plan regarding Christ. 5 God did not reveal it to previous generations, but now by his Spirit he
has revealed it to his holy apostles and prophets. Ephesians 3:1-4
Paul thought
he was serving God the Father but Christ showed Him the error of his ways that
He may see with the Spirit what he could not see without it. Ask God to open
your Bible to your heart today and make it new and exciting again!
When he was given new life in Christ he got the clue that He needed to tell everyone so all the people he had influenced for bad could be free too! Find a way to serve the Lord with goodness today instead of just reading the Word, be a doer of the Word and stay out of the algae of life!
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to find the excitement we felt
when we first found your Word today and every day. Let your mercies that are
new every morning be a fresh to us as the day we first believed and let us have
that “I’ve got to tell somebody” mentality and emotion; In Jesus name amen.
