Expect More- In His Word- 2-1-2016

Expect more- in His Word 2-1-16

God expects all from us; we need to expect more from Him.
He requires of us all to love Him completely; He loves us completely.
With all of our heart, not just a part, but the whole thing. He wants us all!

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Deuteronomy 6:4-5
He wants all of us, all our heart, all our focus, all our love and all of our strength. He wants us to know that He is all we need. Then we will know that He truly shall supply all our needs.
The thing is when we give up our desires for His desires He will give us the desire of our heart. He will give us all our needs.
My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in Glory. Phillippians 4:19

We pray and ask God for this, or make our requests known to  Him, sort of; but He wants us to share our deepest hurts, our darkest hours, our dreams and wishes and our hopes for tomorrow as well. Then He can meet those needs in completion.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Philippians 4:6-8

We don’t expect that because we know we are not worthy.

When I prayed asking Jesus to be my Lord it was because I wanted to be sure I made it to heaven when I died. Plain and simple I did not want to go to hell. I did not at that point ask for anything else I instead gave Him my heart, soul, mind and strength. He wanted all of me and I was all in! I studied the Gideon’s New Testament as far as I could but He wanted me to know more. So I bought my first full Bible. I read daily trying to know what it was all about, what had I gotten into. I found the more I read the more I wanted!
I thought I was doing what I was supposed to do but God showed me He wanted more for me! He took me to a church, showed me where to get baptized and plugged me into a support system of learning, of teaching, of growing in Christ and I thought life could not get any better than that!
But God had more!
He brought me my life love, my help mate, my husband Michael; someone to share the love of God with, to study with, to grow in Christ with and to love.
He brought me more still! I thought I had everything I wanted and He gave me three children to raise up and point in the right direction.
I thought I had everything and He showed me more that I could do for other people to help them grow in Christ; I became a writer of devotionals.
He keeps showing me more and more how I can do things for His Kingdom and I keep thinking I have everything I could ever want; His riches in Glory are far beyond my wildest imagination.
Now when I pray and I ask God to heal, strengthen or direct my path I expect more; for my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory, not according to Teresa’s small request made somewhat humbly at the throne of grace.  God wants to give us more than we ask for.

Abram wanted a son; God gave him a nation.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego wanted to do the will of God; He kept them safe in a fiery furnace.
Paul wanted to do the right thing and do what the God of Abraham would want; Jesus showed him so much more that he would do for Him.
I prayed and asked God to give my child a friend; He gave that child a passel!
She wanted a drink of water... God gave her a waterfall...
We pray for God to give us enough, He gives us more than enough.
We have a measure of faith to believe for big things; God wants us to plant that seed of faith and let it grow so that we have the faith, or trust in God to do more!
He is not finished with you yet! He is not finished with me yet.
God wants us to expect more.
More peace, more love, more hope, more people lead to Him, more joy and yes even more money to more than meet our needs.
What do we have to do for all this? We need to give Him more of our time,  more of our strength, and more of our heart and mind. For when we give Him more of us He can take that bit and turn it into so much more of what we need.

I believe God wants more of us today because His desire is for us to want more of Him.
Are you searching for more of Him today?
Get in the Word more, spend more time reading not just to complete your daily list but to really get to know God and His Word.
Give Him more prayer time, just sit there listening for that still small voice instead of checking your texts or emails. Trust Him with more of your heart and He will trust you with more of His work.
Dear heavenly Father; we want more of you so we are giving you more of our time today. Direct us and guide us beyond what we think we need or want; in Jesus name. Amen.

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. James 4:2-3
