Are you Piled up in the
Word? 4/27/15
No matter how far in advance
we plan things there comes a time when things cross paths or pile up on our
desks or households and we may feel overwhelmed. How do we find peace, hope and
joy when we can’t even think straight with the extensive list of things to do?
Then Jesus said “Call to me
all who are weary and carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest. Matthew
11:28
Some times the burdens seem
so heavy we are about to be crushed by them. Sometimes it is just a matter of knowing
God has heard our prayers and will be answering them soon.
O God, Listen to my cry! Hear
my prayer! From the ends of the earth, I cry to You for help when my heart is
overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering fortress of safety, for You are my safe
refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. Let me live forever in
Your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of Your wings! Psalm 61:1-4
We see the pile on our desk
and no end in sight. We know that the laundry is multiplying itself in the hamper,
for no one has anything left to wear! When suddenly you realize that God is
there to help it can be quite refreshing, if we let it.
He wants to teach us how to
do things His way; how to actually accept the strength that only comes through
Him. You know how you feel when things pile up; like your brain will burst out
of your head, your heart pounds and then suddenly you realize that you have an
advocate in Jesus.
Take
my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.Matthew 11:29
A
yoke is there to keep the animals in line while they pull the load, it keeps their
direction focused.
God
wants to keep us focused and organized in the midst of our chaos!
When
we cry out to Him for help we need to be ready to receive that yoke and
continue to stay attached to His lead.
His reigns are gentle and His burden seems so light to us that following
Him will come almost natural.
Sometimes
when I am overwhelmed at this time of year I get to the point I just want to
sit and cry out… “Help! Somebody Help me!” When I change the ‘Somebody’ to ‘Jesus’,
I can climb any mountain of laundry, I can dig through any pile of files to get
the job done; but when I try to tackle it all by myself with out Jesus helping
keep me in line I find myself wanting to run from it.
Let’s
run to Jesus today! Let’s make the choice to focus our hearts and minds on Him;
for He will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him! Yes! He will
keep us on the right path if we stay focused on His will for our lives, His
direction and know that there is truly an end to the pile of files or boxes, or
dishes, or whatever is piled up on your plate today.
Let’s
trust Him and obey His direction keeping focused on Him to direct our path.
Trust
in the Lord, with all your heart and lean not into your own understanding. In
all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight! ( Proverbs
3:5-6)
Dear
Heavenly Father, Help! Help us to remove the load today by getting it all done!
Help us to find the details that need to be fixed and to go forward for You,
with You and through Your strength. In Jesus name, amen.
