Are you listening? In His Word- 4:20:15
God speaks to us in His Word as often as we read it, but do you
hear what He is saying?
When I find myself ‘stressing out’ over something trivial I
generally do not think to look in the scriptures to find that perfect peace;
because my mind is not stayed on Him I do not find it.
When there is a big issue in life I cling to the Word and try to
find the answers to my needs. Why is it we do not look to God to tackle the
little issues in our lives before they become huge mountains?
Oh, that you had listened to my commands!
Then you would have had peace flowing like a gentle river
and righteousness rolling over you like waves in the sea. Isaiah 48:18
And in
another place Isaiah said,“The
heir to David’s throne will come,
and he will rule over the Gentiles. They will place their hope on him.”
and he will rule over the Gentiles. They will place their hope on him.”
I pray that
God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because
you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power
of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:12-13
If we ‘listen’ to His Word daily we will hear His voice daily and
know what to do in the little things as we walk through the day. If we are not
meditating on His Word, or keeping it hid in our hearts we will not have peace
nor will we be truly freed from sin.
I am talking about the little things that get us; ‘little lies’ ‘little
binges’ or ‘a little laziness’ that pulls us down to the level where we are not
listening to the things we know we should do.
The Word tells us that a little mold will render useless the whole
loaf; a ‘little sin’ will wear us down, pull us away and render u useless to
the Lord’s work.
If we complain all the time it will wear us down. If we ‘decide’
to rebel against authority or thing our way is better than God’s plan; it will
pull us away. His words tell us the things we need to do!
We need to have faith! To get that we need to trust God, to get
that we need to believe, to believe we have to hear.
We know that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God So in order to gain all of these things we must first read the Word of God!
But not everyone welcomes the Good
News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord, who has
believed our message?” So faith
comes from hearing, that is, hearing the
Good News about Christ. But I ask,
have the people of Israel
actually heard the message?
Yes, they have: “The message has gone throughout the earth, and the
words to all the world.” Romans 10:16-19
So peace
comes from hearing the Word, and hearing the Word comes from reading it and
having faith comes from reading it and knowing the truth… and the truth will
set us free! Wow! It’s a nice little circle of hope isn’t it?
I can do
all things through Christ who strengthens me! Philippians 4:13
We know
that we get hope, peace, wisdom, and faith when we trust God and read His Word
and in doing all of this we can learn that we can do all things! I can hear
this! Do you hear it? Do you hear the
Holy Spirit speaking to your heart today? You can do it! You can have peace in
the midst of the trials you are going through today and you can drive on
through the storm and make it to the sunshine on the other end; for God is with
you! If God is with you no thing can stand against you! Not even a storm!
Today I
started out with an anxious heart, even though I know the Bible tells me to be
anxious for nothing; until I fed myself by reading the scriptures about peace,
hope, faith and being able to stand because Christ is with me I did not have
peace. I do now! I know that if I keep
my mind stayed on Him I will find that perfect peace as well!
I choose
to listen to the Word today and keep my mind on Him, not circumstances!
Dear
Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word today giving me peace of mind and
heart. Help us all to focus on Your Word, hear your voice, and know that You
are with us whatever we do. In Jesus’ name amen.
