In the Word 3-2-15
My heart pounds as I think
of this. It trembles within me. Listen carefully to the thunder of God’s voice
as it rolls from his mouth. Job Chapter 37 1-1
Then the Lord answered Job
from the whirlwind, “Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant
words? Brace yourself like a man because I have some questions for you and you
must answer them. Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell
me, if you know so much. “ Job 38 1-3
There have been times as I
have grown as a Christian woman that I wonder when the Lord will be coming
back. I want to be ‘ready’ as they say to receive my prize! I want to know that
when he comes I will be right with Him. But how can I know he is coming?
If you knew He was coming
would you bake a cake?
So many people try to figure
out when Jesus is returning, when the rapture is or if it is and they really
cause a lot of stress and strife over it. I often wonder is it right for us to
search to find an answer we are told not to worry about because when it happens
it will be obvious to the whole world? Should I worry and fret about the
strange weather patterns or the earthquakes that come so frequently or should I
live in peace knowing that I am His?
Now as He sat on the Mount
of Olives , the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us,
when will these things be? And what will be the sign of
Your coming, and of the end of the age?”And Jesus
answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For
many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And
you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet…
“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by
Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever
reads, let him understand)... “Then if anyone says to
you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’
do not believe it. For false christs and
false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if
possible, even the elect. See, I have told you
beforehand.
“Therefore if they say to
you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He
is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For
as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the
coming of the Son of Man be…“
…“But of that day and
hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only….Watch
therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But
know this, hat if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would
come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore
you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Mathew 24:4-44
I think the way to be ready is;
Believe in Jesus as your Lord and savior.
Trust Him to know what to do.
Read the Word and Pray as often as you think to.
Love one another.
And have peace knowing that God is in control.
The last part can be hard when you see things mentioned in
Matthew 24 coming to pass but Jesus said not to worry; just to be watchful and
prepared. Now some may think this is prepared physically, but as we know the
Lord is Spirit, and our spirit must be ready too. There are many parables that
tell us about people who are lazy and not ready for what comes but it also
tells us again and again to know that He will not hide it from a heart
connected to His.
The key thing to know is that you know Jesus personally. We
do not know the day or the hour, we do not know if we will get hit by a car and
die tomorrow. Or even today for that matter, so we need to live like there is
no tomorrow. Do not plan to make things right with God when the day comes that
you need to, or when you are older. Do it now. When you are right with God you
will find peace even in the biggest turmoil. For when we are weak He is strong.
We will find the joy unspeakable in the midst of sorry immeasurable when we
keep our hearts and mind trained on Him. For He will give perfect peace to
those who do so.
Dig in the Word today follow the rabbit trails through the
Word of God, your Bible. He is closer today than He was yesterday if you but
reach out to Him. When the winds blow and the lightening flashes draw near to
God, wrap yourself in His arms and feel the peace.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us all to stay focused on what is
important today, to walk in You. To Walk in your Words, Your words, and Your
Holy Spirit presence in our lives. Direct our paths today in peace Lord. In
Jesus’ name amen.
