Changed- In His Word 2-23-15
We all change in our lifetime, many of us change several different ways
before we come to be the person we are meant to be.
The only one constant thing in our lives is the fact that the world is
here because God created it.
Peter and John
went to the Temple
one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service. As they
approached the Temple ,
a man lame from birth was being carried in.
Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could
beg from the people going into the Temple . When he saw
Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money.Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at
us!” The lame man looked at them eagerly,
expecting some money. But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver
or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the
Nazarene, get up and walk!”
Then Peter
took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s
feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. He jumped up,
stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God,
he went into the Temple
with them. Acts 3:1-8
The man healed in this
scripture was changed. His life was always the same; prior to that day, that
moment that he called out for help from Peter and John He was lame.
As soon as they spoke
healing into his body n the name of Jesus Christ the man’s life was never the
same.
From sorrow he turned into a
man of joy; from lameness and inability to take care of himself he became full
of energy and excitement about the healing and heath he was given!
From pity to gratitude, it
sounds like the title for a book about his life’s story at this point.
We all are lame when we are
born; I don’t mean that we cannot, although that too is true; but we are not
born walking with God. Although some may beg to differ with this theory we are
not born ‘saved’ but we are indeed ‘born in sin’. The sinful nature of man is
there from the start. We can however be known by God from the beginning; only
He can change our hearts. Our hearts
start out not caring about anything or anyone but ourselves; thus we have a
selfish nature. There is a stage that
every child goes through, and it is the “Me-do” stage. The child experts tell
us that usually around two years of age a child wants to try to do things
himself. From there we try to do everything on our own, often even going as far
as trying to get to heaven ourselves.
We try to be ‘good’ even
though there is no way we can ever be ‘good enough’ to please God. It goes against our human nature to be
perfect, ask any perfectionist they will tell you how hard it is to get things
just right.
Of course we can please
people around us but it is God is who hold the key to get us to heaven! The
good news is He wants to give it to us.
There is a code to put in in order to get it, and that is all. . That’s
it! Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, speak it out loud and prove it to
yourself. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved! (Acts 15:11, Romans
10:8-9)
Once we believe then we are
changed. We are no longer walking in sin, we are walking in the Light, because
we are walking with Jesus and He is the Light of the world!
But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have
been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former
conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your
mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according
to God, in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:21-24
Changed. You and
I have been changed when we accepted the truth that Jesus is Lord and that He died
for us. That’s the ticket! From then on
we are free from sin, and free to walk according the plans that Christ has for
us, but with our own choice of following those plans.
We are not
forced to behave a certain way it is a choice. No more worries about measuring
up because we measure up to God Himself and that is all who matters.
We do not have
to be presented to become saved, or chosen, for we are already adopted by God
the Father as one of His own. To God be the glory! We do not have to live like
the Jewish do trying to be good enough but by grace, the grace of God.
For you are not a true Jew just because you were
born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of
circumcision. No,
a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not
merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced
by the Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not
from people. Romans 2:28-29
Dear Heavenly Father, thank
you for changing us. Help us to follow your path and plans for our lives that
we can continue to walk in the joy we first felt when we made the choice to be
changed by you. In Jesus name, amen.
