Called In His Word- 8-4-14
Do you know that you are
called with a purpose?
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good
and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
Each of us has a general purpose
in life to Worship the Lord, to Serve His purpose in life, which is to further
the kingdom of God, and all that; but what about your personal purpose? What
are you going to do with your new life in Christ?
Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away-- all who have been called by the Lord our God.” Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!” Acts 2:38-40
So now what? How do you find what you personally are called to do?
-
Pray-
Seek the Lord while He may be found an ask Him to show you what you are called
to do. It could be a calling to preach, or to teach or to evangelize but it may
also be as simple as to live a life that is pleasing to God and lift Him up in
your daily living. Jesus said “If I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all
men unto Me”. John 12:32
-
Search-
study the Word of God to see what it says about your God given purpose in life,
how to live it according to His plans.
-
Follow-
the directions in the Word, and Pray an obvious doors opening around you. If
you pray for guidance then receive it plain as day and still do not step out in
faith you are not following your purpose. Sometimes God gives us a bridge to
get to the dream we have, and other times He gives us a trail to trek
down. It is up to God to give us the
direction, but it is up to us to follow them or not.
If you choose not to walk in your purpose do not blame God for
things not working out, he gives us the choice to follow after Him and prosper
in many ways or to wander in the dessert wondering where we are going.
We can follow selfish desires or we can do what God wants us to do
and gain peace, hope, freedom and more! Its like what the Word says “Choose you
this day whom you will serve…”
I have called you back from the ends of the earth,
saying, ‘You are my
servant.’ For I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Isaiah 41:9
But now the Lord Who
made you, O Jacob, and He Who made you, O Israel, says, “Do not be afraid. For
I have bought you and made you free. I have called you by name. You are Mine! You are Mine. Isaiah 43:1 NLV
When we realize that God
has a specific purpose for little old us it can be overwhelming; who are we
that God should care to give us a purpose after all?
Just remember that we are
His children, He loves us and just as we have a purpose for each of our
children God has one for each one of us.
I challenge you this week
to study the Word to find the answers to what God wants for you personally to
do. Ask, Seek, and you will find!
Then go knock on that
door!
Dear Heavenly Father,
thank you that You wish to help us to discover Your purpose for each one of us;
direct us to the path that will show it to each of us this week, this year, in
Jesus name, amen.
