Do you ever just stand and wonder, “Where do
I begin?” with a project, a day, the end of a mission trip or week
at camp? Maybe you are at work and there are projects all around you
and you just don't know which one to start with; seek the Lord while
you can find Him ask Him where to start.
If we start out day with prayer, and
with reading of the Word then we can have a good beginning; but what
about the rest of the day? Where do we go from there?
Just like the project has a beginning,
so is our day. We must decide when and where to start somehow and get
moving. It usually takes step by step movements to get a job done,
not often does anyone start and finish a project swiftly and
immediately.
So thinking about that project lets
take step one;
Examine the problem, project or issue
you must deal with.
In the beginning God created the
heavens and the earth... Genesis 1:1
Everything has a beginning, and
depending on the task you must assess what needs to be done. God
chose to create space and land to begin our world. He created
something to build upon.
Whatever you are beginning must have a
foundation.
Secondly God continued to create; we
must continue in the process. As we read through the story of
creation we find God worked daily on the task at hand, he did not
stop until it was done.
We too must press on until the job is
done that He has given us, or will give us.
We need to be strong in His power and
His might and know that if He sends us out to do something He will
provide, protect and persevere for us.
He will not leave us comfortless.
“If you love me, obey my
commandments. And I will ask the Father and he will give you another
Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads
into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't
looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because
he lives with you now and later will be in you. No I will not abandon
you as orphans-- I will come to you.” John 14:15-21
He will not leave us in the problem, in
the project or in the task before us; we must not leave Him out of
our endeavors but know that He is there even if we do not acknowledge
Him. We often get busy working and forget that He wants to be
involved in every part of our lives. It is not always easy to take
Jesus to work but it is always easy to realize He is already there.
It may take a few minutes but stop right now and look back on last
week, or even the past hour of your day and see if you can spot Jesus
in your day!
Be strong and of good courage, for to
this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore
to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous,
that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My
servant commanded you; do not turn from the right hand or to the
left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This book of the Law
shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day
and night that you may observe to do according to all that is written
in it. For then you
will may your way prosperous, and then you will
have good success. Joshua 1:5-8
Thirdly we need to be strong and walk
in the task knowing if we continue on the path given we will make it
to the end as victors, stronger than we were in the beginning knowing
that God walked with us through the whole thing.
For to me, to live is Christ, and to
die is gain. But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from
my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. I am hard pressed
between the two, having a desire to depart an be with Christ
which
is far better. Philippians 1:20-23
This week lets stay focused on what
really is important; focus on the fact that God is with us every step
of our day.
The best way I know, and it may sound
like a broken record but;
1. Start your day acknowledging His
presence. “Good Morning Lord” is a great start!
3. Tell Him that you love Him and
thank Him for loving you.
4. Ask Him to guide your steps,
conversations and endeavors today.
5. Amen- and continue with your day.
Less than a minute and you can start
your day knowing you have acknowledged Him and He is with you!
Make today a new beginning. Make to day
the day you begin with prayer. Take 60 seconds and give back to God
some time that He gave you.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for
today! Help us to start our days in your presence and thanking you
for the day ahead. Bless us and keep us on the straight path today,
in Jesus name, amen.
