Running Late-- in His Word! 7-1-13

It's Time to be- In His Word!

Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him God is a refuge for us. Selah Psalm 62:7
Do you trust Him to lead you?
If so then its time to be lead out to plant seeds, and water them! The Summer is the perfect time to get out there and enjoy yourselves but be sure and remember that God is with us and we need to focus our fun on Him.
O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever. Psalm 131:2-3
If we put our hope in the Lord personally then we should want everyone else to as well. How do we know what to do to share, help or guide someone to know Jesus?
Do we have to do it all right now? There is so much going on!

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven;
A time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck what is planted.
A time to kill and a time to heal a time to break down and a time to build up. Ecclesiastes 3:1-3
There is a time for everything but there is not time for everything. We need to be strong in our walk with the Lord today and now is the time for that. We need to be sure that we know who Jesus is, why we walk with Him and how to fellowship with Him.
Before a farmer goes out and plants a field he learns how to plant the seeds to grow just what he wants to grow. If he plants watermelons he will not grow an apple tree! They have different seeds, and they are put in the ground differently and so on.
We can look at the Word of God, or sowing seeds of the Word the same way. We must study to know Jesus and His will, directions and wisdom in order to impart such words on those around us. In order to live a life that is pleasing to Him we must first read the Word to find out what pleases our God! Some people are studying by reading through the Word slowly, some are reading it rapid fast in 90 days and others are reading in one month. How ever you read the Word, how ever you study the Word you need to know that it is the way God wants you personally to do it that counts.
If you are not capable of speed reading I would not recommend a 'quick read' style. If you are one who loves to read and ponder each and every chapter mulling over the wisdom as you would a meal that you enjoy... then that is how you need to study it!
When I read that scripture telling me that there is a time for every purpose under heaven, that tells me
that there is a time in my life to study the Word, and there is a time to leisurely read the Word and enjoy every morsel. The key is to take the time to do so.
Sometimes we get so full up with things to do in the time we have that we forget that its not about getting everything done that we think we have to do. It is however about getting our Father's business done.
We can take our lead from Jesus; when he was but twelve he wandered away from his parents when they were in Jerusalem on a trip. They looked for him everywhere but found him in the Temple ministering to those there. When they found him he did not make excuses about what he was doing, nor was he found doing anything an ordinary kid of today would be doing; today's kid would be playing around but Jesus at twelve was 'about his Father's business”.
It is time we too are about our Lord's business, not just frolicking in the waves as we like to do in the Summer months.
So to challenge us this summer; what will you do for the Lord this summer?
Will you go to a distant land to share the Gospel?
Will you go and tell your neighbor that Jesus loves him/her?
Will you help out at your local church, or food bank, or kids camp?

Will you help in a recovery car wash?
There are so many ways today we can be about our Father's business!
How can I tell my neighbor that Jesus loves him? By bringing over a jug if ice tea on a hot day.
How can I make a car wash something 'about my Father's business'? By invited the person to church, or sharing what Jesus has done for you through the recovery you are walking in!

There is little time left in your life to share Jesus with someone. We never know if tomorrow will be our last. I am not about to stand on a street corner with a sign saying 'the end is near' but I want us to think about the fact that we need to get serious in our reading, praying, studying, and sharing God's Word.

So this summer lets do that! We can make the plan to read, to enjoy, to share and to spread the Good News of the Gospel message in many ways; those above and others that I am sure you can think of.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to do Your will even in the summer holidays. Help us to remember that You are with us in all that we do and do the right things this vacation, in Jesus name. Amen.
