Do you smell good to God? In His Word 9-5-2026
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you
are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of
Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a
pleasing aroma to God. Ephesians 5:1-2
Don’t behave like the world, instead of adding to the stench
of hate and lies and greed, spread the truth wherever you go. Be kind, and full
of grace sharing God’s love with one another, not judgmental but still knowing
that you must know the truth to know what is good and right.
Still don’t get caught up
in the cares while at the same time remembering that there but the grace
of God would you be! Remember you used
to be ‘them’. Then the Love of God conquered all of that sin. So don’t go back
to it!
Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among
you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk,
and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to
God. You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the
Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping
the things of this world. Ephesians 5:3-5
When you know the truth, you know the truth.
What do I mean by that? That once you know Christ, who is the way the truth and
the life, you know better than to be caught bac up in the same stinking
thinking.
You gave your life to
Him, accepted His salvation, and then you changed what you were like on
the inside with the Holy Spirit guiding you. But then people you hung out with
only weeks or even days before try to pull you back into the life you once
lived but gave up following Christ.
IT really happens! The enemy would love to trick you into being
weak and heading back to the old you. But we wrestle not against flesh and
blood! He uses our old friends to pull us down, but God pulls us back up by the
Spirit! (See Ephesians 6:12)
Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for
the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. Don’t
participate in the things these people do. For once you were full of darkness,
but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For
this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
Carefully determine what pleases the Lord. Take no part in
the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them. It is shameful
even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. But
their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the
light makes everything visible. Ephesians 5:1-14
You see the Holy Spirit needs to be in charge, and when you
allow Him to lead you down the right path there will be nothing, or no one who
can come against you! But you need to fight! You need to remember how to be
strong in the Spirit and that means you need to keep reading, writing out what
you received from what you read, praying about it, and applying it to your
life.
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like
those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t
act thoughtlessly but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t
be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with
the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves,
and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give
thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 5:15-20
Now not everything listed up there was meant for you, maybe
you were not a drinker, but you were a sinner just the same. Either way we need
to get in the Word daily, often as possible and get the word written in our
hearts!
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the
power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not
against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that
ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your
feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above
all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the
fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the
Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with
all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all
perseverance and supplication for all saints; and for me, that utterance may be
given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of
the gospel, Ephesians 6:11-19
When you have done all of that, putting the Armor, you will
be strong and protected from all the enemy and this cronies can throw at you!
Think about that instead of the things in the word, and then just then, offer
up a voice of praise and thanksgiving to God! Let Him know how grateful you are
for all that He has given you at your disposal for your use when you need it!
This is when, my friend, we will smell the best! We will
worship Himthe way He wants us to, and .serve othere the way He wants us to,
and follow His will in our lives the way He wants us to and this is when…
We offer up that sweet smelling aroma, pleasant and
enjoyable to God, because we are imitating Him via the Holy Spirit and not the
world.
Stop for a moment. Go back and read that all again, read the
chapters 5 and 6 of Ephesians start to finish. Tell me then if you do not see
how fantastic God. He is about how put the Word together! First He tells you to
copy Himself, then He tells you what that does not mean, and then He tell you how
you can accomplish what you think you never could, to please Him. He shows you
that He has provided an armor that is fitting to the cause! Then He allows you to be strong in power and
might that come from Him to fight the enemy, the old you desires, to live a life
full of His love!
Cause when you walk in His love, everything works together
for the good of God’s plan. And when you are walking in His love, you will be
walking in His Spirit. It will work together for the good! Think about that one! He gave you love, you
give it back by obeying and loving others, then you realize that the Holy
Spirit has been doing it all! You just have to submit to God, and all the rest
will happen when we stop trying to follow our old self and step into our newness
of Christ, and allow ourselves to smell like Jesus!
Heavenly Father, thank you for directing our read today to
remind us that you will not give us a task that you have not given us the answer
to how to do it! Thank you for your love, we love you back! In Jesus’ name…
For further reading this week: Ephesians 5, 6 and 7. Then
sit and write what you know is right for you to apply to your life today. What
stands out to you? What is God wanting you to pray about? Then do it!
In His love,
