What do we know? In His Word 5-4-2026

What do we know?  in His Word 5-4-2026

This week in a class I am taking we are studying Rahab, the woman who helped the spies sent in to Jericho to get away before they could get captured with a simple promise to save their family and household. Compassion was given, grace was given, and safe travels ensued to protect the people whose leader saved the men.

What many do not realize is that Rahab, who was mentioned to be a prostitute, was actually in the family line of David, and of Jesus! Something to think about there isn't it?

Made me take a Selah moment to contemplate just how God set things up! She saved the Israelites who in turn saved her and her family which brought about the blood line to Jesus clearly. So why did God choose her?

Perhaps to show us that God has compassion, gives grace, and protection over our lives too for His purposes. He uses us who ever we are to share the Gospel, to save people whose family may have an important stock in sharing the Truth with others. Who knew? God did!

It was by faith that the people of Israel marched around Jericho for seven days, and the walls came crashing down. It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed with the people in her city who refused to obey God. For she had given a friendly welcome to the spies. How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets. By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight. Women received their loved ones back again from death. Hebrews 11:31-35

Ram was the father of Amminadab. Amminadab was the father of Nahshon. Nahshon was the father of Salmon. Salmon was the father of Boaz (whose mother was Rahab). Boaz was the father of Obed (whose mother was Ruth). Obed was the father of Jesse. Jesse was the father of King David. David was the father of Solomon (whose mother was Bathsheba, the widow of Uriah). Matthew 1:4-6

This is just a small portion of the family tree of course, but you can see some of the important characters in the Word of God connected together and with purpose brought to the lineage of Christ.

Is there someone in your family or community that is out there in the world doing the wrong stuff, and not paying attention to God? Don't give up on trying to help them find the rope of safe passage to Jesus! Give them the Word of God because it will not come back void, remember? It will always produce fruit, even in a prostitutes family there is faith to bring them out of the life they live and help them become the one who  you love who loves the One you love!

The rain and snow come down from the heavens   and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow,   producing seed for the farmer   and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to,
and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
You will live in joy and peace.  The mountains and hills will burst into song,   and the trees of the field will clap their hands! Isaiah 55:10-12

Why did God use people who were so distraught, disruptive or even at some points disobedient? I don't really know, but what I do know is that if we study the Word, we see what others did to obey God, over man, and to see how they shared the Gospel stories and really the history of the Hebrew nation, it encourages me that He can use me too!

He wants us normal people not perfect people but we who try but fail by ourselves to do the right things. He wants us to know that He loves us, and believes in us to keep trying to 'get good' as the young people say. He will help us to walk the right path when we put our trust and belief in Him to do so.

So what do we know? We know that God is real, loves us, and will never leave us. If He can use these people in the Word who did all many of not right things, He can use us who stumbles now and then to further the kingdom, keep our loved ones safe, and direct our path.

Heavenly Father thank you for showing us that you will use us were we are at to become the people who You see us becoming. Thank you for having faith in us to accept Your love and instruction in righteousness today. Thank you for letting us know.... that you care. In Jesus' name
