Is it tme to be baptized? In His Word

Are you Wondering if you should be baptized? In His Word 5-18-2026

 Here is my Baptism story

Matthew 3:13 Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John...

When I was ‘saved' and a “Christian" “Believer” for about a year I had a second dream. I had been reading my new testament for an hour a day and two hours on Sundays, eventually I picked up a ‘full on Holy Bible’ too. But mostly I read the New Testament one I  had on hand.

More and more since I had read the full NT I was reading about Baptism. I had my second dream about Jesus then. (If you want to hear about my first dream, salvation story comment here or in the video version. I'm still writing it in detail but it’s a long one!)

In my dream I was walking toward a river. I saw two men in what I figured were Bible clothes were like. In my dreams I am always so bright, evidenced by my statement below.

“Hey! That's Jesus and John the Baptist!” I said as I approached the waters edge.

Next thing I knew I was walking though the water to John with Jesus bedside me. I awoke from the dream as I approached them both, and immediately got down on my knees to pray.

Now, you have to remember that I had not been going to church yet, just the reading I mentioned above. So, I prayed asking God,  that if I was supposed to be baptized that I would find out the where, how, and all that, from my sister’s friend Diana who worked with me. I did not tell her, nor anyone else this. I chose her cause I guess, I knew her mom went to church?

I got up and went back to sleep and on with life.

Not long after that, I got a call from Diana wanting me to go with her to ask our  boss for a raise. I had been an assistant teacher at his sons Montessori school and so she figured I had a connection.

Anyway, as I got to the car when she came to pick me up I noticed that Her mom, younger brother, and little sister were all in the back seat of their VW Bug. I was confused and it showed.

“We are going to see my brother Dan get baptized first!” she said. I nodded and said something like ‘ok’. You see, on the outside I was calm and ‘cool', but on the inside I was doing a dance and thinking “Yes! I can find out all those who, where, when , and whys !” and still I just nodded.

When we arrived we got out and went through the open gate to a lake that I had several times snuck through a broken part of the gate that was now open wide, as a younger teen, to go swimming with my cousins. It felt a bit odd being there legally!

So we all sat down on the grass while the pastors went into the water where they baptized about 8 to 10 people. Each time the Pastor would ask if there was anyone else who wanted to be baptized today. I tried to raise my hand, to stand up, to take my shoes off , to take my socks off even as I was wearing my sandals and socks that day.

Here is where it got weird! Every time I tried to stand up and say “I do" someone else would go down to the waters edge and I felt as if something was holding me down by the ankles. It was really weird.

As soon as they started to step onto the grass I felt a release from the invisible clamps on my ankles. I sprung up literally! It felt like I was freed. I hurried over to Diana's other brother and said I was ‘tempted to do that'. The words were barely out of my mouth when David excitedly said, :”You want to get baptized?” and ran off to tell the pastors.

Let me remind you I was only a year into my Christian walk, just barely actually as it was October when I was saved, and it was only September of the next year. I am aware of the scripture now that says God doesn't tempt us.

Before I knew it they were calling out my name saying “Teresa? Teresa who?”  As I walked down to them waving my hand I answered their questions. They had a few about my beliefs, why I wanted to be baptized, when I got t them.  So, as I answered I told them about my prayer, and my dream, and that God brought me there for this.

Next thing I knew I was able to remove my shoes and socks, and walk into the water with them. They Baptized me “in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit which is Jesus Christ “. The same words they used with each person who had gone ahead of me. They submersed me in the Lake. From there I stood up and felt like I was on fire!

My skin dried so fast that when the pastor's wife handed me a towel I said I didn’t need it cause I was dry already! She still had me discretely wrapped myself in the towel.

From there they invited me to church on Wednesday Night, and I was locked in as a Christian who went to church from there because I loved it! I was always hungry for more!

I  encourage you if you are wondering if you should get baptized this year, this month, this week, even in one of the many “Baptize America" situations out there, ask God first. Pray and ask Him to show you where, when, how, and all the important ‘stuff' to get you on your way. But remember this, Baptism is an outward display of your commitment to Christ. Its like you saying ‘Look I am really a believer in Jesus and I put Him in the leadership of my life. I am committed to living for Him.

”Praying first will help you realize if its time for you to be baptized or if you just want to because ‘everyone is doing it'.  God knows your heart. Proverbs 16:2

Examine your heart…Hebrews 41:12and He knows us in advance, Romans 8:27-30

Read it for yourself, and pray. Luke 3:21. Do your own search to find all the scriptures about Baptism. Then pray, read, apply, In His Love.

Heavenly Father, help everyone who reads this to find Your peace, Hope, and love, and to know You first of all, then to be baptized as your Word tells us in Matthew 28 to do. In Jesus Name
