Hope for a better me! Advent Day 5. 12-05-2025
Advent means, in it's noun form; the arrival of a notable person or thing.
He has arrived long ago but we must choose to accept His presence in our lives to find the Hope for today!
When Christ
died to “save us from our sins” He saved us from ourselves! We as humans make
life hard to deal with. We fight the good and choose the bad behaviors and opinions
and what we should do we do not do. As
Paul said that which I would do I don’t do and that which I don’t want to do I
do.
So, my
dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law
when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised
from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God. When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful
desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that
produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. But now we have been released from the law,
for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God,
not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of
living in the Spirit. Romans 7 :4-6
So the
trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with
me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. I don’t really understand myself,
for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. But if I know that what I am doing is wrong,
this shows that I agree that the law is good. So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin
living in me that does it. And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is,
in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I
don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not
really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. Romans 7:14-20
I have discovered this principle of life—that
when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s
law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war
with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will
free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our
Lord. So, you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but
because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. Romans 7:21-25
Thankfully
God knows our heart and mind both want to follow after His Hope, He gives us
the strength through the Holy Spirit to grab ahold of the Hope of that
wonderful day when we will choose His Way over ours and turn from sin to become
the people He created us to be.
And we
are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live
in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that
wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be
revealed. He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us,
and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.
Titus 2:12-14
We can
then chose life over death, freedom over slavery, and faith over fear with the
Hope of the Holy Spirit in us to guide us through this rough world and human
nature to devote our lives to God and His wisdom always, not just once a week!
Heavenly
Father, put a strong lock over my mouth that I would only say the things you
would have me say and do what you would have me do no matter the opposition. Give me faith over fear as I put my trust and Hope in You. Every day let me
live for you in all I do. In Jesus’
name.
