This is Love~ In His Word 2-17-2025

This is Love! In His Word

This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.                       2 John 5-6

He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.                   1 John 4:8-9

So we can see He is love, and at the same time we can love Him, and know Him as our friend.

So many people are out there looking for love; they have no clue that God is what they are really looking for. They think that it is in a person, a friend, or a lover. They are so wrong!

When I hear of people who are broken hearted because they have broken up with a boyfriend or girlfriend, I feel for them. Not in the way you might think, but I feel for them that they thought they could find true love, true happiness in a human relationship.

I have something to tell them today!

When you look for someone to love what do you look for?

Someone who will be your friend-

A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.                                                                                  Proverb 18:24

Jesus will be that friend; He will do all that a friend should do.

"Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. And He will love you and bless you and multiply you;                                                   Deuteronomy 7:12-13

I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me.    Proverbs 8:17

So we have to look for love to find it, but when we find it how do we know that it is true?

How can we tell we have a friend who considers us a friend as well?

And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God.                                                           James 2:23

"But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen. The descendants of Abraham My friend.

Isaiah 41:8

He wants to be your friend. Just like He was a friend with Abraham, and he was known as God’s friend. In fact Jesus  is the friend who will stick closer to us than our brother will. He will pick up the pieces of our broken hearts and remold, rebuild, or purify them. He will cleanse us from all impurity and make us new. But we have to know this, and we have to ask Him to. After all a friend will not rush you or push you to do what you would not want to do. He will though guide you and help you to see what is right, and what is true.  He will show you what the real purpose is in what you are going through. Maybe it is to see a loved one come to the Lord, maybe it is to grow you and make you more like Him?

Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart,                        1 Timothy 1:5

He wants to be the friend who will not let you down. He wants you to know that He will never leave you nor forsake you because He loves you.

A friend loves at all times,                                                                                     Proverbs  17:17a

He, God, Jesus, Father, Abba, wants to be your Best friend. He wants you to love Him like He loves you. He is the best friend you could ever have. He alone can keep all that He promises, because He is God. He is love, so if we are to know what love is, we must know Him. When we want to be friends with someone we have to first be friends with God, in order to have a true friendship with someone else; we must know what true friendship is.

We have to know that His love is unconditional, and in a way so is His friendship. If we love Him we will keep his commands, and if we keep His commands we are His friends. Wow, that sounds pretty simple when you write it out…One constitutes the other.

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.                                                                                                                                     1 John 4:10-11

Wow, there it is again! It’s not about me! It’s not about you! It’s all about Him!

It is not as important to God that we loved him, but that He loved us so much that He sent Jesus to be our propitiation, that means  (hilasmos (hil-as-mos'); atonement, i.e. (concretely) an expiator: Jesus was the atonement for our sins. We know that there is not greater love than to lay down our lives for our friends, and that is truly what God did for us, in Jesus. He loves us way more than we could ever conceive of loving. And yet, we are to try. We are to try by loving one another just as He loves us. Unconditionally, unjudgmental, purely loving one another. That does not have anything to do with looking for love in some of the places people look.

We need to look for love in God, Christ Jesus first. Then when we have His knowledge of His love for us we can truly love others. If we do not know Love, God being love, how can we ever expect to give love to one another?

First we need to abide in Him, and then we can abide in love.

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God and God in him.                                                        1 John 4:16

Let us try as we go through this week, to share His love with someone around us. Just one person can make a world of difference! One word of hope to a hungry or lonely person can brighten his or her day. Giving someone a bit of encouragement even when you don’t feel like it, that’s what unconditional means, not regarding condition; will do wonders for that person. You know something? When we give hope to someone that we did not even want to talk to, we are the ones who get blessed back. We may be short a few dollars, or a few minutes in our day, but we have gained joy in our heart and a memory of the look on the person’s face that will last a lot longer than what we spent!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Your love being so precious, so pure, that you loved me even before I knew you. You knew me before I had a clue, and you loved me just as you do today. Even when I make stupid mistakes or say dumb things. Lord thank you that You do not see me that way. You look at me through Love’s eyes; help me see other’s through the same. In Jesus name, amen.
