Just before… In His Word 12-9-2024

T’was just before Christmas when Mary, she knew, was so great with child that her belly it grew! She and her Spouse were not near to their house for the census they traveled to Bethlehem to count.

Now the story is told in Luke 2 really clear’, but I want you to read it and know it this year.

There was no group of reindeer, nor jolly old elves; Joseph took Mary and walked there themselves.

The Inn it was full, they had no where to go, so the Keeper suggested the Manger to go.

As Mary, in labor, may have cried with alarm, they hurried and made up a bed in the barn.

The star it was twinkling, the baby awaked, our sweet little Jesus, God was man no fake!

If you think that I’ve missed things, you’re probably right, ‘cause this was the first Christmas, that wonderful night.

When Peace came to earth in the form of His birth, we all got a gift that is more than we’re worth!

Now you go and read the full chapter in Luke, you’ll love it believe me, it’s not just a fluke! The main portions are set in the blog just below, but do not stop there cause there’s much more to know.

At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. 2 (This was the first census taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census. 4 And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. 5 He took with him Mary, to whom he was engaged, who was now expecting a child .Luke 2:1-5

If you follow my blog, or my writing at all you know that I am big into the rest of the Chapter. So, if you are wondering what time the Roman Emperor decreed the census would be, then go back to Chapter 1 or Luke or at least read these verses below. They will give you an idea of what was happening, but still read the rest of that Chapter, and the rest of Chapter 2 in Luke as well.

The story, yes it is true, is full of excitement, of encouragement that God will not leave us, and a bit of danger expected and its just enough to get you connected to the truth that this Jesus the Christ is our Lord. He was sent to save us all.

Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. 30 “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God!  You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.  He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David.  And he will reign over Israel[f] forever; his Kingdom will never end!”

Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”

The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.  What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month.  For the word of God will never fail. Luke 1:29-37

If you liked the sound of the story above, let me end it a bit with a tale of His Love.

Our Lord  Precious Jesus was sent, yet He came, as our Lord, God the Father who gave Him His name. You may have heard about it in a Christmas Cartoon, but really it was told of him way long ago. You can read about it in Isaiah 9, a part is below. Again, read the rest of the chapter to see the whole show!

Oh, wow, I am still rhyming, please forgive me, its hard once I start to stop!

For a child is born to us,   a son is given to us. His government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor,  Mighty God,  Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace  will never end. Isaiah 9:6-7

Keep reading enjoy the Word of God today and put Christ in your Christmas celebration somehow… I want you to know that I’m really done now!

In His Love,

Teresa Wilson
