Got it? There is no
other! In His Word 4-8-2024
Sometimes it really bothers me when I hear people say ‘to each his own’ or this god or that god. I feel bad for the One True God! How would I like it if someone else got praise for raising my kids? Or cooking the dinner I just cooked, or cleaning up after my kids?
Well, the One True God really does all of that for us! He
feeds and clothes us and yet we think we know better than He does at times. He
has had to pretty much wipe out humanity at least once through history and
still the people, even those who claim we know Him, try to do things on our
own. Do we think we can do it better? Maybe we need to delve back into the Old
Testament for a good bit of depth and direction? God has a plan for your life,
and mine, and we cross paths for a purpose as well, so let’s get on with it!
Let’s start talking about the Lord God Almighty! Jesus and Salvation are very high on the list
of people’s conversational topics lately, but did you know God has been around
for the entire history of the world and he has a gazillion stories about how He
is God, not any of the little ‘g’ gods like Baal, or Buddha. Jesus lived and
died and came back to life so we would have the chance to know Him personally.
To show us that He is our Lord. To get our attention, and many other reasons as
well as our Salvation Story.
Today as you read through these chapters, I posted portions
but there is so much more to each chapter mentioned, I want us to really get a
clue, to know that God has chosen each of us to read His Word and get the plan.
Then to go tell someone about it!
“But you are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the Lord. “You
are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand
that I alone am God. There is no other God— there never has been, and there
never will be. Isaiah 43:10
What did you learn about in church yesterday? What did you
read about today? Why did it stand out? Did you ‘get it’?
I went to a woman’s brunch recently and we made this great
design it yourself tote bags. The words on it were ‘She has chosen’ by design.
Someone seeing mine asked me “what did she choose” ?
Immediately I was able to quote what area of the Bible we
had learned about from our key speaker! Mary
chose to spend time with Jesus, while Martha did not quite understand, and her job
was important too, Mary chose the best
thing. The thing we should be choosing, to spend time with Him today!
Sit at His feet today! Good things happen when you cross
paths with Jesus!
Then Nathanael exclaimed, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God—the
King of Israel!”
Jesus asked him, “Do you believe this just because I told
you I had seen you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.” Then he said, “I tell you the truth, you will
all see heaven open and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of Man,
the one who is the stairway between heaven and earth.” John 1:49-51
The woman left her
water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, “Come
and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the
Messiah?” So, the people came streaming
from the village to see him…
“Did someone bring him food while we were gone?” the
disciples asked each other.
Then Jesus explained:
“My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from
finishing his work. You know the saying, ‘Four months between planting and
harvest.’ But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe[e]
for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is
people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the
harvester alike! You know the saying, ‘One plants and another harvests.’ And
it’s true. I sent you to harvest where
you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to
gather the harvest. Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because
the woman had said, “He told me everything I ever did!”
When they came out to
see him, they begged him to stay in their village. So, he stayed for two days, long
enough for many more to hear his message and believe. Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe,
not just because of what you told us, but because we have heard him ourselves.
Now we know that he is indeed the Savior of the world.” John 4:28-42
The woman at the well became an instant evangelist! She
shared what Jesus told her, just like we need to do! Look, when she shared she
did not know if they would even listen,
or maybe she did not even think, she was just so amazed at what she heard! What
she knew was she had to tell somebody!
That is what we should want to do, that’s what we should
really ‘get’!
Today think on these things, and even more, share what you
read! Now I want you to go read the rest
of the chapter! John 4, read it all the
way through. Then reread the portion above and think about how Jesus used her
life to bring a village of hope, and renewed life, and salvation by the words
He shared. Now it’s in our hands! Or, in
our mouths? We need to tell somebody what Jesus did for us today! Share the post
if you are afraid to speak! Open up your Bible, paper, or screen and share it!
Send out a snap shot! Post it on insta!
Tell someone what God has done in your life so they too can “get it!”
In His Love… in Jesus’ name…
