Follow His Lead In His Word 11-20-2023
So, Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you
stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law. Galatians 5:1-2
Christ gave His life that we would be free from sin and
death. So that we would not have to deal with the bondage it brings on our
lives, the sin, and torment. I think about how amazing it is that the slavery
of sin on our lives is just lifted when we realize He has taken it from us. Sometimes
we may fight the idea, we may think we are in bondage, or oppression but once
we realize it we will rejoice! We really just need to accept that the Son of
God took that from us on the cross and set us free from it all. We know that when the Son sets us free we will
be free indeed!
So, if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. John
8:35-36
When we accept the truth we want to follow the Holy Spirit
and glean from Him all that He has to offer us. Freedom, Faith, Hope, Joy, Peace,
all the good things are there waiting for us when we chose to trust Him to lead
us.
So, I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you
won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is
just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires
that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are
constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good
intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under
obligation to the law of Moses. Galatians 5:16-18
When we try to do things ourselves we can get caught up in
the world, and it’s cares. Sins like those listed below may not be the things
that plague you but perhaps its fear, worry, grumbling or complaining? We have
been set free from those too, and when we walk following Christ, and the Holy Spirit
we will see that freedom and walk it in! We cannot think to do it ourselves without
the Holy Spirit, as our guide because we will follow our own idea of what is
right and good. God knows better!
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the
results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling,
jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other
sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living
that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-20
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our
lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things. Those who
belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful
nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the
Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us
not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another. Galatians
5:21-26
So do not become someone who thinks you can do this life
alone, that you have to do the things to
make yourself right with God, know that God is the one who gives us life. Don’t
try to be someone else either because God has us on our path just where we need
to be at the moment and we cannot attempt to stand in someone elses shoes while
they are still wearing them. Let that sink in, because when we are jealous of
other believers even we are trying to do just that. God wants us to know that
He has a plan, He has a time and a place for us to step into the promises He
gives us. We just need to trust in His Word,
