Take Your Time ~In His Word 10-30-2023
Have you
never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the
Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the
depths of his understanding. Isaiah 40:28 NLT
This time of
the year can be tiring. There are events happening, parties for the kids, and
yet we pick up our feet and keep on going. These days people are decorating for
everything too. So ,we put it out for one month then remove it and put it up
for a different theme around our homes and out of doors, I often wonder where
people put everything when its not the season for that?
This thought
may be a rabbit trail, but it brings me to the things we learn at Bible Study
groups, or in service at our local church; where do we put the thing we learn
each time we gather? Do we use the lessons in our daily lives? Are we really
applying the truth to what we walk through every day? It is really important to
gather the Words glean from the speaker, teacher, preachers and apply it to our
lives. Read your Bible daily, prayer and be prepared for what happens spiritually
even when we cannot always be prepared physically. Stuff happens. We have to be
ready to do the battle as it comes, otherwise we could say or do the wrong
thing in the heat of the moment.
Finally, my
brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole
armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For
we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts
of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10-12nkjv
For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:15-17 nkjv
Do we put on our shield of faith and protect ourselves against the wiles of the devil? Do we know what that means?
When we
allow ourselves to slip back into a habit of relaxed Christianity we can find
ourselves stumbling and maybe even falling. The real reason is that we let our
guard down. We are not cautious but live life as if we have it all set and
planned. The thing is we live in a world full of Satan’s cronies who would love
to cause us to stumble and fall.
I think it’s
like the carpets that line doorways for me. If I rush in not thinking about the
carpet or mat that someone has placed there to give us a cautious moment, to
keep us safe. The problem I have is I forget to look where I am walking, and I
rush thorough the door to the next place I want to be. Often times I catch my
foot and fall. I am working on that!
Once I realized
that it was a stumbling spot for me, I decided to slow down, and pay attention
to where I am walking. It helps! But occasionally I forget and rush through causing
another stumble. So, what can I do?
Focus on the right thing! Slow down and pay attention!
This can
relate to our Christian life; focus on the Word, the Lord, and His guidance.
Pay attention to the teachers and preachers and apply the Word taught to our
lives. Then we will be prepared and ready to prevent stumbles. We will walk in
truth, in hope and in peace. Trusting God to direct our spiritual feet to not slip
up!
Set your
minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:2 niv
This week
let’s keep our eyes on things above, lets put on our armor and be sure we are
protected and then walk prepared for what the enemy tosses in front of us. Gear
up and be strong, In His Word, and In Jesus’ name.
