Just do the thing... In His Word 7-31-23

Sometimes you just have to do the thing…In His Word 7-31-2023

Is God telling you to step away from your old friends and walk a narrower path? Has He told you to separate yourself from among them?

Sometimes you just have to o the thing that bothers someone else because you know it’s the right thing to do..

One Sabbath day Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the Pharisees, and the people were watching him closely. There was a man there whose arms and legs were swollen.

Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in religious law, “Is it permitted in the law to heal people on the Sabbath day, or not?”

When they refused to answer, Jesus touched the sick man and healed him and sent him away. Then he turned to them and said, “Which of you doesn’t work on the Sabbath? If your son or your cow falls into a pit, don’t you rush to get him out?”

Again, they could not answer. Luke 14:4-6

They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger.

They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust.

When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman. Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?”

 “No, Lord,” she said.

And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” John 8:1-11

Noah learned that doing the right thing was hard. So did Jonah. They both had to do what God told them to do even when it either did not make sence to them or they knew they would get thought a fool for doing it.

Think about Moses when God said to tap the stone and water would come out, he could have thought no way! But he did it anyway.

I could go on and on! There are so many people I history that chose to follow God no matter what. Will you be the next person to choose to follow His guidance?

Do you trust Him to know what to do?

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust Him and not to try to figure things out first just to trust Him to direct you where to go.

Other times He may tell you to step out of a ministry, or just stop doing things all together.

Be still and know that I am God

Psalm 46:10a encourages us to remember that He will do the work, we just need to be still and know that He is in control and that then HE will be exalted because it’s not about us.

Whether you are being told to step back from an area you served in  the past or if you are being told to step out in faith and begin a new walk in Christ; trust is key to be able to do it.

Jesus could heal the man because He is God, but also it was the right thing to do at just that time.  He also knows who needs to repent and how they should have to deal with fixing the wrongs they committed; He knows best.

Our lives are given to us to do the will of the Father, our God, our Lord and Savior, etc. Our job is to follow His direction and do the right thing according to what we read in His Word.

Take a moment today to pray, ask God if there is an area He wants you to step out into and also if there is anything He wants you to put down and not pick up unless He tells you to. Then trust Him to make it work out to give Him the glory and you peace! In Jesus’ name
