Don’t worry, be joyful! In His Word 6-26-2023

The other day I listened to a friend tell me of how many things were causing her to be fearful today. It wasn’t fear for herself but for others safety or salvation that she feared. Let me just stop and say, fear is fear and the Word of God tells us to fear not~

‘Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, he Holy One of Israel, your Savior; Isaiah 43:1-3

God wants us to know that there may be issues that come up, floods, fires, battles, but they all are taken care of when we trust in the Lord to take care of us in the way that He sees fit. Trust is a hard thing, we sometimes think we have been trusting Him, but then, we realize we have only given him a part of our heart.

Trust in the Lord with all  your heart and lean not in your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6 paraphrased a bit!

For the most part we are to trust that God wants all of our heart, not just a bit here and there. We need to realize that we do not need to fear because things are going to go right in His purpose for us. When bad things happen, or evil people attack us, we can trust that God will provide a safe passage from the terrors. If we put our complete trust in Him to do so He will really show us where to go, what to do, and whom to go with to safety!

Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither,  like green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;  do not fret—it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed,    but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. Psalm 37: 1-9

In today’s world there are many evils, there are many reasons to want to fear, but I say don’t do it! Choose faith over fear today.

Faith is trusting in a great big God, He can move a mountain He can calm the seas, He takes care of you and me….. do not be afraid for God is with you every day! The song that my daughter came home from Vacation Bible Day Camp singing at 3 years old and caused me to have faith and trust in God to take care of her baby brother when he was born ‘beyond blue’! I trusted God to be with me and I had the faith to believe that I was not to be afraid because of that fact.

Find yourself a song, or a psalm or another scripture that will encourage you to put your trust in Jesus today, or tomorrow when you are afraid.  When I am afraid I will trust in Him, according to Psalm 56:3 -4 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God (I will praise His word), in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?

So for today, and tomorrow and tomorrows tomorrow and so on, decide to trust in Him, in God whose Word we can praise! Who loves us, chose us, promises never to leave us nor forsake us; trust Him and choose faith over fear!
